I wanted a camera that would produce good images at night. This Pentax offered and demonstrated excellent ISO performance and imagery that easily surpassed my previous camera. Shooting at 1600 ISO displayed very low noise. On lookers were impressed with the fact that a flash wasn't used, yet the pictures were still of very good quality. Previously, white balance was always a hit more miss with my old DSLR. Colors were either too bright, too blue, or too white. Now, using the Pentax K-X, white balance accuracy is very much improved, in fact, once you've selected the white balance exposure, the camera technology allows you to preview what the photo might look like before you take the shot! The K-X can reel off nearly 5 shots per second, a feature that rivals some cameras that cost hundreds of dollars more. And as advertised, the camera is small but really does have a great feel to it, solid. The Pentax K-X is feature packed, so much so, that I've still not evaluated HDR, or 720p video, or all of the cool filters that are available. All in all, you would be hard press to find a camera anywhere that offers the kind of features, and high performance, for the dollar value that the Pentax does. I have a Pentax K-7, and now she has this K-x. As far as image quality, I often envy her camera. Thanks to its incredible high-ISO performance, she can get incredibly clear and sharp shots in all kinds of lighting situations. This thing is tiny for a true DSLR, and it weighs very little. Combined with the lenses she uses most often, it makes for a very light kit that can be carried anywhere. And since we got it in navy blue, it doesn't look too "professional" so it's not frowned upon when we bring it to events (sports, concerts, etc). Build quality still manages to be excellent despite the plastic construction, probably thanks to the metal frame. While it's missing some of the more advanced features of the K-7, the K-x manages to impress me greatly. Especially considering the low, low price. My wife couldn't be happier, and now we're spending lots of time together improving our photographic skills. I couldn't recommend this camera enough. I am surprised nobody has any reviews yet. I love it, it is easy to carry, pictures are great, video is awesome.. Really good camera, I just hope it will last a while. The batteries are holding up pretty good so far, i took about 500 pictures and 4-5 videos (4 minutes each) and the are still running.
