This item was the solution, and I am delighted with it. While it's high resolution, the lens is small, so the images aren't as super crisp as you'd get from a digital SLR, it's perfectly suitable for many day-to-day tasks, including travel photography. I love the super wide angle lens, the small size, and the rugged feel to this camera. I was nervous taking it into the water for the first time, but it performed like a champ, both with still pictures and video. It isn't great under low light situations (highly pixelated images) and I'm not a big fan of the zoom (more digital than optical), but it's still very useful most of the time.
