  Great bridge camera for the price By Hardware Hank on January 01, 2014 Review submitted for Pentax X-5 16MP 26x Optical Zoom Megazoom Digital Camera Kit (Silver) (PKX5S) Pros: Ease of Use, Electronic View Finder, Tilting Led Screen, Light Weight, Looks Of A Dslr Cons: Battery life, Clumsly Battery Door Other Comments: I was looking for a better point & shoot camera with a view finder. Frankly there aren't many out there. The x-5 is a great camera for the price. Controls are easy to use and the instructions are easy to follow. I've had mine for 5 days now and I am still finding more features. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the first time I used it it "froze up" on me 3 times. All I had to do was open and close battery cover and turn it back on but still a pita. It hasn't done it since so I'm not sure just what the problem is/was. It could have been something that I did but not sure. Overall this is a great camera for the price. The zoom is incredible although it is a little jerky. I wanted a camera that I could use as a point and shoot while learning the ins and outs of using the camera. The manual that comes with the book is filled with great info and between that and the info two photog friends are teaching me, this camera is really great. I've seen a lot of people who've reviewed it complaining about how the pics turn out in low light. My advice as a true point and shoot gal: LEARN the manual! I've never had an issue with picture quality or anything so far. My pics have turned out well lit, gorgeous in color (with no photoshopping program). I would recommend this camera to anyone! This silver edition Pentax contains features that cover a large number of shooting situations. Some existing preset modes make up for the lack of shutter or aperture priority settings. Just become familiar with the camera's capabilities. The maximum sharpness setting is not available in Auto Scene mode. It defaults to "normal" sharpness in this mode. Auto Scene mode is very accurate, however. Compared to other Megazoom category cameras, this is a winner for the price.
