5 out of 5 stars   Amazing value!

Review submitted for Panasonic TC-P42S2 - 42 inch VIERA High-definition 1080p Plasma TV (PNTCP42S2)
Pros: Good Resolution, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound Quality
Cons:
Other Comments: I replaced a 720p with this TV, and I could not be happier. All the interfaces work great, plugs right into the surround sound, easily controlled through the viera system. Tweak the color, factory settings are very dull/unnatural. Small nuisance with the Viera is not being able to listen to a CD without the TV being on.

4 out of 5 stars   Beauty picture, incredible price!

Review submitted for Panasonic TC-P42S2 - 42 inch VIERA High-definition 1080p Plasma TV (PNTCP42S2)
Pros: Good Resolution, Fast Setup, Energy Efficient, Great Picture Quality, Reduced Glare, Good Remote Control, Attractive Design
Cons:
Other Comments: My 32" CRT (480i) was on its last legs, tube was blurry on the edges and the component connection needs to be resoldered so you have to jiggle it sometimes. I know the Panasonic 2010 series have one or two small issues, like the rising Minimum Luminance Level, but they're still one of the most reliable displays on the market and the performance even on the entry level S2 series is amazing for the price you're paying. I am not keen on the off axis angles that LED sets provide and both LED-backlit and CCFL-backlit LCD's still have motion resolution issues that can only be resolved with artifact inducing Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation technology, which I don't like at all. Plasma is still the most natural looking picture of all fixed panel displays IMO. Knowing about the MLL issue and also that having taken on Pioneer employees and acquirings Pioneer's PDP patents means that Panasonic will beat the Kuro plasmas in either 2011 or 2012. For this reason I wanted to wait until then, as I'm really looking for a top of the line 65" Viera. At BuyDig's price though getting a 42" S2 to see me through until August 2012 was an easy decision and one I'm not regretting. I broke in this set with D-Nice's VIVID settings and the EA plasma break-in DVD and after 120 hours used the CINEMA settings, also from D-Nice. This doesn't have the black levels of the suprememly expensive LED sets from Samsung, nor the VT25 Viera's or the Kuro's, but at this price the picture is still stunning. Highly recommended for someone in the same situation as me (waiting for the Kuro-busting Viera's in 2011 or 2012) and/or as a secondary TV. Mounted easily on a Monoprice wall mount.

Pros: Great Sound Quality, Great Picture Quality, All the connections options I could ever need, Energy Efficient
Cons:
Other Comments: Have not run it through all its paces yet, but I am very happy. The blacks are so dark-looks great. Colors are very sharp too. Regular DVDs are also very very crisp. I will run a Blu-Ray soon. I decided to upgrade my cable to HD because the picture is so good!

2 out of 5 stars   Great Picture Can't Connect PC or MAC
By jefstuff on April 17, 2010
Review submitted for Panasonic TC-P42S2 - 42 inch VIERA High-definition 1080p Plasma TV (PNTCP42S2)
Pros: Great Picture Quality
Cons: Can't use as PC monitor, Can't use as MAC monitor, DVIHDMI doesn't work, Poor Connection Options
Other Comments: DVI/HDMI from PC and MAC didn't work on any of the HDMI ports Took 7 contacts to Panasonic to find out that this TV and other Panasonic TVs don't work with DVI/HDMI converters This TV would not recognized a HDMI signal coming out of a new HP Elite PC with HDMI graphics card. My 3 year old Samsung connects with DVI/HDMI from PC and MAC as well as the new HP PC with the HDMI graphics card
