I researched for well over a month before finally biting the bullet and purchasing this Samsung. There are so many people that love it or hate it for one reason or another. I was worried about glare, viewing angle, SD performance, black levels, lag, etc. Eventually you have to decide if you can live with the claimed performance issues that people complain about. If you're looking for a "perfect" TV, you ain't gonna find it. Not if you read reviews from many different places. I just got to the point where I said Samsung sells hundreds of thousands of TVs per year. I'm sure that everyone that is happy doesn't post a review, but probably most of them that aren't happy do. I ordered the TV and then ordered HD channels from Dish Network. We don't watch a lot of movies, but I love watching football and baseball. I can tell you the movies we've watched in HD are outstanding and sports is even better. But I've also realized that some channels seem to broadcast a higher quality HD than others do. I'm not sure what's up with that but I'll have to research and see what I come up with. SD is pretty good too. If I had a choice I'd much rather watch SD on a CRT display. But the SD performance is better than I thought it would be. Just realize what you're getting into if all you watch is SD programming. I have seen no issues with lag. Even fast moving action seems to be smooth. Viewing angle is not nearly as bad as people claim it is. If you're way off to the side I can see where you wouldn't like the picture. But our seating arrangement has us looking pretty much straight on. Even at 45 degree angles I don't see problems. Glare is not a problem for me. I do have a big window that faces the TV, but the sun does not shine directly in. During the day I can see objects reflected in the screen, but when the TV is on I don't even notice them. If you've got a room with many windows glare might bother you. You'd probably want to get the 630 with the matte finish display. Black levels...cripes, who the heck really cares if one TV is inky black and another one is not as black? I realized that it's very seldom I'm even looking at the black parts of the screen. Even if the background is all black I'm more focused on the subject(s) in the middle of the screen that are lit up anyways. Believe me it's no big deal that so and so plasma has a better black level. Unless you're a real nut about those things and spend you're life watching TV you won't even notice. The sound from the TV is fine. I have the TV connected to my receiver with 7.1 surround sound so I'm not using the TV speakers. But when I was first setting it up the speakers on the TV were certainly sufficient. They won't wow you but they aren't horrible.This TV came with a free wireless adapter and as far as connecting to my wireless network it was a snap. Very fast. No issues at all. I've watched some Youtube videos on the TV, but that's about it. Also upgraded the firmware via the net and that was seamless. Sometime soon I may subscribe to Netflix to check out the streaming movie capability.The TV design is very nice. Very mininal and clean looking, yet elegant at the same time. The remote is pretty basic. Works well and all buttons are fairly easy to reach with one hand. I do wish they had a remote with a pop out full QWERTY keyboard like Visio has for those times when you're searching Youtube vidoes. But the options they have are similar to a cell phone, so most people will be comfortable if you've ever dont texting.All in all this is a great purchase. I have had it for a couple months and I am very happy with the picture and features. The speakers could use a boost but it puts out enough sound to keep everyone happy at family movie time. I saw many negative reviews about samsung and their customer services. I hope I don't have to use them ever. So far the product been working very well. I waited now 4 weeks to put on the review. The speaker strength is very well. Color balance and clarity settings are plenty. Base rotates, doesn't swivel. Base over time gets dusty looking easily, requiring frqe cleaning, but I guess that would be the case with all shiny bases. Over all I am happy with this purchase. Immediately I found the Internet@TV feature addictive, and when I found out that I could stream stuff over the network to it via DLNA using my Win 7 laptop I was immediately hooked. Sound quality is actually pretty good on this TV - nice and 'bass'ey for once, and also nice and loud (though no substitute for a proper sound setup). You don't get the wireless adapter with the TV and the Samsung adapter is a little pricey for a wireless adapter. However I found the Rosewill RNX-N1 from Newegg is compatible and I've had no problems with it so far. At $25 or less it's a steal. Picture quality is as usual excellent. I'd say it's right up there with the quality of Plasma - blacks are really deep and HDX quality films over the internet via vudu are truly astonishing. I had it down to my life long fav Sony, or Samsung, and Samsung TV's were just as good if not better in most area then sony tv's at a better price. I first looked at the 52A750,850,&950. But I just couldn't bring myself to get one. Then the 55B650 came out in 2009 and I just had to have one but we got a house and no BIG Screen for me. So I thought about just buying a lesser quality and price TV so I could have my BIG screen but knew I wouldn't be happy with less than what I wanted. But when I saw this Deal on BuyDig.com I yell out " Send Me My BIG SCREEN ". As soon as I saw the picture I got from my HD cable box I was Speechless. But when I upgraded my digital box for the HD DVR box and hook up the HDMI cable I was done. The Picture almost jumps off the screen. When people first see it they are all just taken by how clear it is. This TV is simply Awsome. Easy to set-up and adjust. I was up and runing in minutes.
