Nice backup that does not use up a USB port

Pros: Relatively fast, no external power supply needed, frees up a USB port, compact size, very good TimeMachine backup for iMac. Comes with short thunderbolt cable.
Cons: High price for capacity, actual disk read/write speed likely to be much less than you expect.
Other Comments: The speed rating on the box borders on false advertising. Sure the thunderbolt "interface" is capable of 10 Gb/s, but of course sustained disk read/write speeds can never possibly achieve this rate. I find that the actual performance of the disk is about twice as fast as a USB2.0 drive (not 20 like the box implies) and is just a little faster than my USB3.0 unit. I bought this because it would free up a USB port and it was heavily discounted on sale. If you are looking for the best value, get one of the many USB3 buss-powered drives that are on the market and don't worry that you are sacrificing much in the way of actual read/write speed. If you need to free up a USB port and can afford the premium price, then this drive is the fastest buss-powered drive that I have used and works very well. Just don't expect it to store 1 TB of data in 20 minutes!

Pros: Small Hd drive for thunderbolt equipped computers.
Fast drive.
Cons: Should come with SSD option.
No loop thru of thunderbolt port.
