Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: No wifi
Other Comments: There is a bit of a learning curve but once you learn to navigate the menus it's easy to use. Takes great pictures and there are filters on the internet that you can add even though it's not designed to take them. I gave 4 stars because it doesn't have wifi. I didn't think I'd miss it, but I do.

Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: I haven't had this camera long enough to try everything, but the basics worked perfectly straight out of the box! I've had a Sony camera for 5 years and loved it, so since this one has all of the old one's features and much more, I know I'm going to really enjoy it!!! Love how the image viewer tilts down for those "over everyone's shoulders" photos! The zoom is tremendous for such a small camera!

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: The camera was very competitively priced (at first I thought there was something wrong with it given how cheap it was) and gives wonderful bright, hi-res photos with some impressive zoom capacities. The service and delivery were all quick and efficient and the extra 16GB memory card they sent made a wonderful present.

5 out of 5 stars   An Excellent Camera for Casual Use
By Dhiman Roy on December 21, 2012
Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
Pros: fantastic photo quality, Awesome Foucs, Great price, Hd video quality, Easy to use
Cons: Nothing
Other Comments: This little super zoom monster from Sony is really a breath taking item. The fantastic zoom quality and sharp auto focus feature along with great picture quality making it a worth to buy item. This is one of the best in class you'll find today in the market. I have researched a lot before bank on this product. The downside of the camera is only the raw picture which we casual user doesn't even bother to think about it. Over all an excellent product from Sony.

4 out of 5 stars   Excellent Hybrid Bridge Camera
By demiro on December 04, 2012

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
Pros: Low light shooting modes, Great Video
Cons: Operational speed
Other Comments: I've owned and used a few bridge cameras, most recently the Canon SX40. I'd say the Sony is very much on par with the Canon. IQ may be not quite as sharp, but colors are better to my eye, and the HX200V wins out on ability to shoot in low light sans flash and for video capabilities. If video is important to you I'd say the Sony is hard to beat for the price. If stills are your main priority then maybe look a bit harder at other options.

5 out of 5 stars   Great Camera
By JLS on July 02, 2012

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
Pros: Excellent picture quality, Great zoom lens, Durable, relatively quick
Cons: Learning curve on manual
Other Comments: I just got back from a trip to Alaska and am pleased to report that the Sony HX200V performed admirably. I'm really happy with the picture quality from this camera. The picture quality rivals that of my Canon DSLR, but the Sony is much easier to carry and has an amazing zoom lens. The burst mode was great for capturing glacier calving. I really took advantage of the HQ panorama mode - and those pics look great. I took some 3D photos and panoramas, but haven't checked how they look on my 3D TV yet - but they were just for fun. There are lots of reviews of this camera out there, so I won't go into detail much. This camera is pretty durable - mine took several rough knocks, but it still works great. Video from this camera is really clean - but audio is about what I expected from a still camera, OK but not great. The digital zoom is better than other digital zooms, but I would only go to about 45X for anything larger than a 4x6. I usually like to shoot in manual modes, but this camera actually does an excellent job in auto - especially the superior auto mode. I would normally prefer RAW images, but honestly the camera does a really good job handling different contrast conditions and offers various ways to shoot to capture those details. So, even though I thought I would miss RAW support, I found that I don't. My wife really appreciates the full-auto modes which do a nice job even in low light situations. I took lots of hand-held low light photos with much better results than I expected. There's a mode that takes 3 pictures rapidly and merges them to produce really excellent low-light images - it works really well even at night. The only negative I have for this camera is that the printed instruction manual isn't very helpful beyond initial set-up. So, there is a learning curve - it takes some time to memorize the menu structures to get to advanced features quickly. If you're not in a hurry, the in-camera help has the info and the menus aren't bad since options are labeled - it's just when you need to switch modes really fast that it was an issue for me. For example, I had just finished taking a 3D panorama of a glacier when a whale surfaced. It took me a second to switch to auto burst mode - so I only got it's tale. Now that I've used it for a while, that wouldn't be a problem. Other than that, this camera did a fabulous job and was much easier to carry on hikes than a DSLR with 3 lenses. I'm happy to trade off a slight amount of noise for a much handier camera that let me get in close to the action and grab great images quickly - and it's cheap enough that I didn't have to worry too much when hiking through a stream or banging into brush. If you're looking for a point and shoot megazoom, this Sony is excellent.

5 out of 5 stars   Great mega-zoom camera!
By Excel on May 05, 2012

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
Pros: Great low light shots, Great zoom, Great Color
Cons: Power-on hits lens cap, Charges battery in camera
Other Comments: The DSC-HX200V takes great pictures! It has a fast lens at lower zoom settings. The anti motion blur mode also works very well - the camera takes several shots and creates an excellent composite image in low light. I have been using a DSC-H1 for over five years and until now I haven't seen a similar mega-zoom camera that offered enough improvement to justify upgrading. Many mega-zooms do poorly in low light settings due to the limited lens aperture. I compared a variety of similar mega-zoom cameras and the DSC-HX200V was the best in my opinion. Only two (small) gripes: 1) Turning the camera on with the lens cap in place causes the lens to hit the cap. The firmware doesn't sense the cap and alert the user. 2) The charger plugs into the camera, so you can't charge one battery while using a second one unless you buy a separate charger.

5 out of 5 stars   Excellent camera
By Mom Jen on April 30, 2012

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
Pros: Zoom is fantastic, Great Pictures, Smile locator works well
Cons: Not simple point shoot
Other Comments: My Canon Rebel DSLR needed to be replaced, so I began researching what was out there. I originally was going to get a smaller, simpler, point and shoot camera, but I also really wanted a camera that was able to take photographer-level pictures, especially indoors, without having to bring along extra lenses and gear. So far, the Sony has been wonderful! It is smaller than my Canon was, has similar settings (along with 10 frames per second which was fabulous during my daughter's sport events!), and takes great pictures, even in horrible fluorescent lighting situations. I am extremely pleased with my purchase!

Pros: Everything about it
Cons: I can't find any
Other Comments: I love Sony products and this camera has made me very happy. I love the picture quality. My kids play sports and the pictures I have been able to capture are superb. I am so glad I purchased it. The batterly life is phenomenal. I bought 3 extra batteries as I find myself taking pics in the high hundreds at events and so far I haven't even needed them. I would recommend this camera to everyone who are like me who are not professionals but want professional looking pics. Thank you Sony and Buydig.com!
