Review submitted for Sony KDL55HX729 55" Class Widescreen 3D LED HDTV (SNKDL55HX729)
Pros: Inernet connectivity, Size, Looks, Picture Quality, Apps, NETFLIX
Cons: Sluggish interface, Youtube HD, SD text
Other Comments: I wanted a big TV with good picture quality and this TV sure does deliver on my expectations. HD signal looks awesome! I've been a big skeptic when it comes to LED/LCD technology (especially stuff like fast moving action sequences and black reproduction). I wanted a 55" screen, but was apprehensive that the big size would magnify these imperfections in the not so evolved LED/LCD technology. I've owned this TV for about a month now, and I am really impressed with it. It handles fast moving action sequences and sports really well. Haven't seen a single fast moving sequence that looked bad/pixelated. I guess the 240 motion flow thing does work! I haven't noticed any problems in black reproduction as well. SD signal looks good, but anti-aliasing on text (like in ads etc.) does not work well. The text ends up looking blurry. I'm not routing signal through an HD box yet, although I'm not sure if this problem will get fixed even if I do that. For me, this is a minor annoyance and definitely not a deal breaker and what the TV has to offer clearly overshadows this problem. I haven't tried the 3D feature yet, and I don't think I will be trying it anytime soon. I didn't want 3D as a feature in my TV, but wasn't getting a new model without the feature. Sound is ok, but then again, only a good home theater would justify the size of this screen! I'm really happy with my decision to buy the 55HX729, and if I had to buy another TV, I would definitely go in for this one again!
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product
