Review submitted for Toshiba Satellite P775D-S7230 17.3 Inch Platinum Notebook (TBP775DS7230)
Pros: Lots of Memory, great computer, Super fast
Cons: Delete Key in Wrong Place, No Recovery Disk Issued, Mouse Pad Terrible
Other Comments: My only four complaints about this computer, after having used a Toshiba Satellite P205-S6267 for 4-years are: 1. The QWERTY Keyboard is not as good or responsive as the P205, not nearly as nice to type on as the old P205. 2. They rearranged the Insert, Delete, Home, Page Up, Page Down and Scroll Lock keys above the 10-Key Number Pad, from a layout pattern that I have used for almost 15-years, so I constantly hit the wrong keys. I am always hitting the Home key instead of the Delete key. 3. The Mouse Pad sucks. I prefer the old style recessed level Mouse Pad "Pit." This one is at the same level as the housing and it is rough to the touch. They should have kept is smooth as silk like on the P205. You will really notice the texture effect on your fingers after a good bit of use. Not painful, but discomforting. The old "pit" configuration made it easy to automatically locate the right side edge for the scroll up and down function. On this one you will spend a lot of time trying to scroll with your finger on the housing cover and not on the Mouse Pad, wondering why the mouse is not responding. 4. The Left and Right Mouse Buttons should not have been incorporated into the rolled curve housing edge. It makes it hard to click on them real good. The Mouse Pad should have been moved forward about 3/8-Inch towards the QWERTY keypad along with the Left and Right Buttons to get them out of the curve. Everything else about the computer is great. Extremely fast internet, super fast in all of my software programs, lots of memory. I do wish Toshiba would have included a Recovery Disk in case something goes wrong in the future, instead of having to make one yourself. I really hate the relocated Keys above the 10-Key Number Pad. That was a big mistake by Toshiba. That is my biggest complaint. The number 2 complaint is the Mouse Pad and Left Right Buttons.
