Review submitted for Toshiba Satellite 13.3" T235-S1370WH Notebook PC (TBT235S1370WH)
Pros: Sleek, Fast, Slim, Light, Affordable
Cons:
Other Comments: I've only had the computer for 3 weeks, but so far I'm loving it. Its my first non-Dell, and I think I made a good decision. I'd been researching notebooks that were the top rated machines for the year, and Toshiba was always highly ranked. The Satellite line might not be the Portege, but its pretty close in my opinion, and much more affordable - particularly for what I need it for. I'm a heavy internet user for browsing, paying bills/online shopping, downloading music, streaming videos, posting photos, skype with relatives etc. And my big things were that the computer be small and light (like me!) so I can easily move it around the house or take it with me on an airplane and that it cost less than $700. This model fit the bill. Yeah, so it doesn't have an optical drive included. But how often do I really need one? I then bought an external one for $50-100 and it let me install programs I needed and I now have the option for burning and ripping cds when I want, but I don't have to lug the weight of it around all the time. So far, everything seems to be holding up just fine. I only have two tiny things that make it not "perfect". 1. Occasionally when I'm listening to music, there will be a weird buzz noise. Just for a second, but it happens whether I'm using headphones or the speakers. Annoying but tolerable and I think I am noticing it less. 2. The touchpad is nice and big and the multitouch is a cool feature. But when I'm typing, if I leave my left hand on the keys and use the touch pad with my right, I have to be careful that my left hand does not make any contact with it, or it thinks I'm doing multitouch zoom and the screen goes crazy when I just want to move the cursor. Hopefully I'll learn to adjust to this soon. I have been happy about this purchase since I hit the submit payment button, but I knew I made a good choice when my brother, who is an electrical-engineering-Mac-person, was impressed with it. Probably helped a little that the white exterior does fool people to think its a Mac. I'm a PC and proud of it, but superficially I love the look of Mac books. So I was delighted to see a solid notebook that resembles a Mac. Overall, a great purchase for someone who has basic computer needs.
