5 out of 5 stars   Tamron 150-600 lense
By Mark on July 07, 2017
Review submitted for Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Zoom Lens for for Nikon F-Mount (TM150600VCNK)
Pros: Vibration control is great even when riding the dirt roads through the Serengeti Bush. Takes wonderful closeups of game animals at long distances. I was extremely pleased to purchase this lense at what I considered to be a reasonable price for this type of lense. It would be tough to pay for this lense with the Nikon brand attached. I went to the Serengeti in Early June for a safari and was told by some veterans of safaris that a telephoto lense is highly recommended for shooting the "great migration." Great choice and I'm glad I made the leap. The photo quality is wonderful. Mind you this is not an everyday lense but for long shots it's well worth the price. It also took some nice aviary close ups.
Cons: Make sure you have a good quality trip pod with this lense unless your host has bean bags. This baby weighs in at over 4 pounds. I was able to get good shots holding it close to the body even while moving along on dirt roads but having a bean bag rest or a good tripod is recommended.

5 out of 5 stars   Fabulous - but make sure you fine-tune the autofocus!

Review submitted for Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 Zoom Lens for for Nikon F-Mount (TM150600VCNK)
Pros: It's an excellent lens at a reasonable price. The improved weather sealing, the build quality, the switches are all excellent and an improvement over the already good original. I'm particularly enjoying the three VC (vibration compensation or stabilization) modes - 1 is normal, 2 is for panning, 3 is for shot-stabilization meaning it doesn't help the viewfinder (which can make composition a bit difficult) but the at-time-of-shutter-release compensation is improved even over mode 1.
Cons: Be sure to auto-focus fine-tune (or micro-adjust) your lens! Mine went from good to superb with a bit of work. I just acquired the Tamron TAP-in console to fine-tune the autofocus even more. I think this will be excellent.
