3 out of 5 stars   Good Lens but not Great
By RCMAX on September 28, 2010
Review submitted for Tamron 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 AF Di-II LD IF Macro Built-In Motor Lens for Nikon Mounts (TM18250NA2)
Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Durable
Cons: Poor in Low Light, Blurry Focus
Other Comments: Bought this Lens for a couple of reasons. One major one was I was taking a trip that I normally rented a 70-300 lens for. For the length of the trip, the price was going to be a wash so I figured I would get this one and keep the lens, knowing that I wouldn't get quite the reach, but I wouldn't have to switch to my 18-135 either for some of the scenic shots. Well I can't say I totally love the lens, I do like it, and I really can only see one down fall which would make me buy a really good 18-200 and then a 200-400 lens instead. That is it has no VR. Anything past 110mm you have to tripod. I used the 70-300 on mulitple occasions and rarely used a tripod and always had sharp great photos. I'm slightly unhappy with myself because I didn't take the tripod on the trip since I was tight on room and rarely used in the past. Needless to say I have some great photos that are below standards because I couldn't hold the lens quite still enough without the tripod. Lesson learned I have to have a tripod. The pictures are still sharp and the ones I was able to use something to stablize it are great, but for that reason I will be looking to get the 70-300 because of the VR.

4 out of 5 stars   Tamron 18-250 on a Nikon 5000

Review submitted for Tamron 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 AF Di-II LD IF Macro Built-In Motor Lens for Nikon Mounts (TM18250NA2)
Pros: Consistent Output, Strong Construction, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Rugged
Cons: Poor in Low Light
Other Comments: This Tamron 18-250 is a great lens, I'm using it on a Nikon 5000 with no problems, I am quite pleased with it although after dark, you can pretty well forget pictures although you can use the flash and still get shots. You never know how things will work out but I have been quite surprised at the shots I've been able to get. This camera I guess doesn't have the VR lens but for the price I am more than happy how this lens seems to get 95% of what I take. It works and works well for most of what you want to shoot.[...]
