It is replacing it's grandfather relative lens (same make & such) of 20 years which also captured amazing landscapes and wildlife. This lens didn't let me down. Still heavy, but worth the weight. My husband uses this lens like he's paparazzi and will take pictures of me from across the street. It takes amazing photos, but you need to make sure you adjust the focus properly, or else it can get blurry. The one drawback is that it's not easy to throw my camera in a bag for impromptu photos because the lens is pretty massive. Though it is worth it for those planned pro-looking images. Seems to work good if subject not very far away where a close-up from a short distance is needed. I got it mostly for long range type shots but that doesn't seem to be what this is for. When in auto on my camera the picture seems overexposed (too much light) and I am not good enough at manual shutter speeds and f stops to use it otherwise.
