Only drawback to the 18 would be the obvious 18.5" wide so smoking a full rib rack can't be done flat without cutting or curling on top. Rave reviews. No secret incredients...just follow the recipes provided in the manual. Temperature was easy to maintain even with periodic charcoal supplements.
