1TB My Book Studio LX
(WDBACH0010HAL)
Pros: Quiet, Easy To Set Up, High Capacity, Styling matches MacBook, Attractive Design
Cons: Initial problems with FW
Other Comments: My MacBook's first reaction to my plugging in this drive was to offer formatting the drive for use with their software. I foolishly said yes, and then all WD setup software for the drive were gone. WD software on their own website to update the FW of this device turned my first drive into a boat anchor. Once I replaced the drive, and knew not to accept Apple's invitation to format the hard drive or WD's suggestion to update the FW, I have had no more problems and everything seems to work well. If you want to keep the WD software that comes with the drive, either don't let Mac OS format or encrypt the device or copy everything off the drive first. No format is required for the drive to be read by a Mac, and encryption is entirely your own preference.
Yes, I recommend this product
