Pros: This is a plug and play drive. It installed itself and updated the software with no problems. Seems to be a very good product.
Cons: The only gripe that I have is in product registration. Rather than registering during the drive install I elected to do it later. When I went to the WD website to register several days after startup, WD would not recognize the serial number. WD reported that either the serial number was wrong or the product was discontinued. I verified that the product was the current model and reopened the software that came with the drive. Using the same serial number, the drive software successfully registered the product.

Pros: Fanless design is very quiet and that is a big plus for me when using with my nearly silent iMac. I haven't measured the speed, but the USB3 is plenty fast for my needs. It also does a good job in conserving power by going into standby mode and spinning down the drive when not in use.
Cons: This is my 4th WD MyBook drive, all purchased in the past 5 to 6 years - ranging in size from 1 TB to 3 TB. One of the 3 TB drives failed on me a few weeks ago prompting this purchase. I took the drive out of the enclosure and put it in a new one only to confirm that it is the drive and not the enclosure that failed. One out of 4 is not a disaster, but still questionable in terms of durability, hence the one star derating.
