2 out of 5 stars   Better than nothing, but not much
By Paul on February 27, 2014
Review submitted for Zeikos 58mm Pro Series Hard Tulip Lens Hood (ZEHLH58)
Pros: It's cheap, fits and looks like a proper Canon wide angle lens hood, if you don't look too close.
Cons: The ZEHLH58 Zeikos 58mm Hard Lens Hood attaches by threading into the filter thread or filter until it aligns properly then tightening a locking ring against the front of the filter or lens. This works OK at first, but isn't very secure and allows the filter to move unless you risk over tightening. The threads on the lens hood, like the rest of the hood, are plastic. Eventually, or much sooner than that, the threads on the hood wear or break and the hood either won't stay on when properly aligned or won't align once enough threads are engaged. It's a very bad design that, had I understood how it worked from the description, I would not have bought.
Other Comments: It lasted just about one year, hence the second star. My advice, buy your gear once rather than buying junk that will break only to buy the real deal later. Essentially I bought the Canon hood for its price plus the price of the Zeikos junk.

Review submitted for Zeikos 58mm Pro Series Hard Tulip Lens Hood (ZEHLH58)
Pros: Lightweight, Easy To Use, Reliable, Durable
Cons:
Other Comments: This is a perfect lens hood for the 40-150mm Olympus lens for my 4/3 E-PL1 camera. It comes with a threaded ring to allow it to be adjusted to best angle for lens flare, etc.

3 out of 5 stars   Some problems but still worth it!

Review submitted for Zeikos 58mm Pro Series Hard Tulip Lens Hood (ZEHLH58)
Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Easy To Use
Cons: Does Not Securly Attach, Some Alignment Issues
Other Comments: I seem to be having difficulty aligning and attaching the hood to the lens. My lens has a UV filter on if the filter had additional threads I don't think there would be a problem. I keep this on a 35-70 zoom at all times for outside light and protestion. Even with my problems it does do the trick.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product

1 out of 5 stars   Not a good solution

Review submitted for Zeikos 58mm Pro Series Hard Tulip Lens Hood (ZEHLH58)
Pros:
Cons: Poor Design, Difficult To Use, Not Functional
Other Comments: Not what I was expecting. Cheap plastic that screws onto the lens end and not a quick clip on. Too much time to screw on the lens. It can't clip on backwards to store it when it's not needed. Bad solution.

1 out of 5 stars   Total waste!!!

Review submitted for Zeikos 58mm Pro Series Hard Tulip Lens Hood (ZEHLH58)
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Not Durable, Not Functional, Difficult To Use, Problematic
Other Comments: This was a total loss. It's build out of tender plastic that you know will breakdown after a few uses, if it even was usable. While it claimed to be adéquat for an 18-55, the edges cast a dark shadow within the image when on 18~22 range. Given it needs to be screwed onto the lens, it's slow to put on and off. And worst, it doesn't even have a ridges on the inside rim so you can add anything in the front, like other filters. Even the lens cap has nothing to hook into. Overall a badly, cheaply designed product.
