The DMC-TS3 is dustproof equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. While hiking or playing sports, fine dust particles can enter through gaps in the camera body and cause malfunction. The DMC-TS3 can be used in these activities without problems.

Freezeproof down to -10 degrees C
With freezeproof to -10 degrees Celsius, the DMC-TS3 supports shooting while skiing, snowboarding or skating.

About Waterproof / Dustproof performance of the camera
This camera's waterproof / dustproof rating complies with the "IPX8" and "IP6X" ratings. Provided the care and maintenance guidelines described as following are strictly followed, this camera can operate underwater, to a depth not exceeding 12m (40FT) for a time not exceeding 60 minutes. This does not guarantee no destruction, no malfunction, or waterproofing in all conditions.

About Shockproof performance of the camera
The camera complies with "MIL-STD 810F (Method 516.5-Shock).

The camera has cleared a drop test from a height of 2m onto 3cm thick plywood. In most cases, the camera should not sustain any damage if dropped from a height of 2 m or less.

About Freezeproof performance of the camera
The performance of the battery (number of recordable images / operating time) may decrease temporarily when using in a temperature between -10 degrees C to 0 degrees C (14 degrees F to 32 degrees F) (at the cold climate such as ski resort).

If the camera gets cold in a cold environment, performance of the LCD monitor may temporarily drop immediately after turning the power on, such as the image on the LCD monitor being slightly darker than usual or ghost images appearing. Keep the camera warm when using in a cold environment. The performance will resume to normal when the internal temperature rises.

When using the camera in a cold place such as a ski resort, if the camera is left with snow or water drops still on it, the snow or water drops in-between the zoom button, Power button may freeze, making it difficult for some parts of the camera to function properly.

This is not a malfunction. When the camera returns to normal temperature it will function normal. It is recommended to use the camera while keeping it warm in the coat etc.

Structural Elements Supporting Outdoor Performance
Thanks to rubber padding and reinforced glass inside the camera, the DMC-TS3 features an airtight body protected against water immersion, dust and sand. Previously, there were separate terminal covers but these are relocated at one part covered by a single door. With the minimum apertural area, the DMC-TS3 boasts even higher tightness of sealing to withstand pressure in underwater as deep as 12m.

In addition to reinforcing the exterior of the camera with shock-resistant material, the DMC-TS3 uses folded optics to prevent its lens unit from taking damage when dropped during operation. The lens unit is protected by a supplementary damper to absorb the force from shock impact. All components are reexamined to endure the temperature as low as -10 degrees C to make the freezeproof.

The DMC-TS3 lets you snap off consecutive shots at approx. 3.7 frames per second in full resolution. You can take a series of shots, then choose the one you like the best and delete the rest. You can also select High-speed Burst Mode or Flash Burst Mode from Scene Mode.

The Venus Engine FHD is incorporated that features exceptionally advanced signal processing capabilities. POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) - Shake Detection
Everyone has had an experience of taking a photo at night and hoping to capture all the memories and beauty, only to be disappointed at the poor result. Panasonic has worked on the low-frequency vibration hand-shake component, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed. The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer)* nearly doubles the hand-shake correction power of conventional MEGA O.I.S. You get bright photos without blurring even from handheld shooting at slow shutter speeds.

Motion Deblur Mode
When trying to record children or pets in a dimly lit room, have you ever missed to capture a smiling face or a special moment because your subject moved, causing the image to blur? With the DMC-TS3, the Motion Deblur Mode prevents blurring with even greater power. This mode integrates the Intelligent ISO Control, which automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed according to the subject's movement, and the advanced contrast control system of Intelligent Exposure, which also optimizes the exposure to prevent over/under-exposed parts in the image. The camera judges the appropriate shutter speed to suppress motion blur according to the subject's movement. The shutter speed rises as high as possible activating the high sensitivity recording by pixel mixed readout method. The camera determines the optimal settings, so anyone can easily capture crisp, clear photos - without blurring.

Intelligent ISO Control - Motion Detection

The Intelligent ISO Control function detects subject movement and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the movement and light conditions. When it detects subject motion, it automatically raises the ISO setting and increases the shutter speed to prevent motion blur. On the other hand, when the subject is still and no movement is detected, it takes beautifully natural photos with a low ISO setting.

The Intelligent ISO Control function is automatically turned on in the iA Mode, and can be turned on or off in the Normal Picture Mode to enable a maximum sensitivity setting.

Intelligent Exposure - Light Detection
The Intelligent Exposure instantly analyzes the framed image and adjusts the brightness in areas that are too dark due to dim lighting, backlighting or use of the flash. Adjusting the brightness of dark areas, this produces natural images that are close to the way they actually look to the human eye.

The Intelligent Exposure function is automatically turned on in the iA Mode and can be turned on or off in the Normal Picture Mode.

Auto Backlight Compensation
When there is strong backlighting, the background appears nice and bright, but the subject is dark. This function detects backlight condition and compensates it automatically.

Face Detection AF/AE with Face Recognition
The DMC-TS3 features the Face Recognition, a function that "remembers" faces. The conventional face detection system captures a face with focus and appropriate exposure but sometimes it falls not on the face you want to capture most beautifully when there are several faces in a frame. The Face Recognition prioritizes focus and exposure right on the face of your special person. In playback, you can choose to display only photos that contain a specific registered face using the Category Playback.

The Face Detection also features the Digital Red-eye Correction (Red-eye Removal). The camera takes care of the red-eye effect that often happens when shooting with a flash, to ensure attractive facial expression.

Register the person by taking a full-face portrait and input the personal date. A maximum of 6 persons can be registered.

Take a clear, full-face portrait with eyes open looking straight at the camera. Adding a variation of angles and facial expressions may increase the accuracy of recognition. The registered person is automatically focused on, and up to 3 names can be displayed at once. If the person is supposed to be 3 years or younger according to the registered birth date, the Baby Mode is activated. The Category Playback lets you choose to play only Face Recognition photos, if desired. You can view a collection of the photos containing a specific person.

Digital Red-eye Correction
The occurrence of red-eye is automatically reduced by a pre-flash in the iA Mode and corrected by the Digital Red-eye Correction function.

3D Photo Mode
The newly added 3D Photo Mode produces a 3D image in the camera. The image-processing method used by LUMIX records beautiful images with less distortion or visible image links. Take 20 panning shots and the camera automatically selects the two most suitable images - one for the right eye and one for the left eye ? to synthesize a 3D composite.

The 3D image can be viewed on a VIERA HDTV. The 3D image format is compatible with MPO, so it can be played back on other MPO-compatible equipment such as TVs and digital photo frames, or printed.

High-speed Burst Mode
The DMC-TS3 lets you choose the Speed Priority or Image Priority. In the Speed Priority Mode, it can fire off up to approximately 10 frames per second with 3-megapixel resolution, which is highly sufficient for photo prints. This is great for capturing fast-moving sports or racing scenes. You can take a series of shots, then choose the ones you like the best and delete the rest.

Slideshow with Music
The DMC-TS3 can play a slideshow with music. Choose from 4 types of music: Natural, Slow, Swing and Urban. Then, select the transition effect to match your music. For musical slideshows created with the included PHOTOfunSTUDIO 6.1 HD Lite Edition, you can choose your favorite iTunes music file as background music and burn it onto a DVD disc as an MPEG2 file. It is also possible to upload the slideshow to YouTube.

Quick Menu
Frequently used functions can be quickly retrieved and easily switched by using the Q.MENU button. The function names are displayed in text form, making them easy for anyone to understand and use.

PHOTOfunSTUDIO 6.1 HD Lite Edition
The PHOTOfunSTUDIO 6.1 HD Lite Edition makes it possible to sort and organize photos not only of those newly taken but also of those stored in your computer with quick start-up and fast read-in of images. The images recorded with GPS information are automatically sorted by the place name making it easy and fun to organize the images taken on your travel. For the portraits, the Face Recognition function that recognizes the faces in the picture automatically sorts the photos by the registered faces without picking out each photo one by one when you only want images of a specific person.

Built-in Memory 19MB
Take photos even when you don't have an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card on hand. The built-in memory holds up to approx. 19MB of image data, which you can later copy to an SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card or computer. You can also copy images from a memory card or computer to the built-in memory, and view them on the LCD anytime you like. Title Edit / Text Stamp
The Title Edit function in the playback mode lets you edit the titles of any photos you want. You can also record information of the place when taking photos in the GPS / Sensor Mode or enter the birth date and name of your subject in the Baby Mode or Pet Mode. The title, date of GPS / Sensor information, name, age based on the birth date, and date of shooting are displayed during playback, and can be printed on photos.

You can playback photos from a total of 9 settings, including the Face Recognition, which lets you search for and retrieve specific subjects.

PictBridge Compatible - Direct Print Function
The PictBridge standard lets you print directly on a compatible digital printer. Print size, layout, date and other settings can be made with the camera. Of course, you can also make multiple prints of an image, or print only the ones that you have selected.
