5 out of 5 stars   Great Value!!!
By bagdadjoe (Bagdad, Ky) December 10, 2010
Review submitted for Celestron 52238 C70 Mini Mak Spotting Scope (CT52238)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Bright Eyepiece
Cons:
Other Comments: Great value! I was looking for a spotting scope that wouldn't break the bank and yet have reasonably clean optics. This fits the bill perfectly for me. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. It is more substantial than I expected, yet still very portable. It is not razor sharp at the highest magification, but then I don't need it cranked all the way up. I use it for target shooting and general viewing around the place. I have 6 acres with a large pond in back so there's always deer, turkey and all kinds of birds to look at, for about a quarter of what I was prepared to spend. The tripod is not rock steady, but I have two Tilt-all professional tripods and haven't had the need to mount it on one yet...I probably will, just because I have them.

4 out of 5 stars   A compact scope for air travel
By Birder Bob (Michigan) September 15, 2010
Review submitted for Celestron 52238 C70 Mini Mak Spotting Scope (CT52238)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Compact, Light weight, Decent for the money, Inexpensive
Cons: Not great above 40x, A smaller field of view
Other Comments: A great scope to put in your carry on luggage. I would recommend the purchase of a more adequate tripod. I got one that is 40 inches tall, and folds to about 13 inches for less than [$] on-line.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product
