I've used the Escort 9500ix for a few highway runs already. It picked up legitimate signals before I could even see the cop, giving me ample time to slow down. It is pretty sensitive, so it does pick up small K and Ka bands occasionally from automatic doors and EZ Pass stations, but you learn to read them correctly. If the signal is growing steadily, slow down. If it is a false reading, like EZ Pass, I simply press the mute button on the power cord plugged into the cigarette lighter 3 times to lock out the location and specific frequency.There are many settings you can easily configure to have it work the way you want, such as automatically dimming the display at night and have it beep loudly the first time a signal is detected and then quiet down but still display. The reviews I've read before buying this are true. This is a good device for 1st time users, and settings can be changed for the veteran experts as well.The provided mount hasn't fallen off on me yet, but I didn't trust it holding this expensive device so I purchased a better mount from[@].I bought this because my research showed me that this was the best in the $300-$500 range. It definitely is.

I have a lead foot and this Escort has kept me out of trouble since I mounted it. Very easy installation, slides right onto your dashboard and the suction cups work great. There are only a minimal number of false alarms and this machine amazingly REMEMBERS where the false alarms will come from and will start to block them out. Way cool. On top of that, its a sleek design, and when you combine that with the direct wiring into your electrical system, you have a slick, cord free, radar devouring machine! I love it.

Seems to work great, been extremely happy with it so far. Already saved me from 2 potential situations where it alerted me before I could see the cop. Auto mode + Lockouts is wonderful.

One thing I am really impressed with is the red light camera database. One of the lights near my home has a camera going only in one direction, and it only alerts you if you approach from that direction, not the others.
