Comments about Hewlett Packard Photosmart B8550 Wide Format Photo Printer:
I would NOT recommend buying a printer from buydig.com. I received my printer and it didn't work. I called the manufacturer for service and found out that the printer I bought was not new! In fact, it only had 8 days left on the warrenty. Luckily, I sent it back to HP, the manufacturer, and they gave me a new printer. Now I know what the saying, "Buyer beware" means. I should have known that the low price meant there was something wrong! DON'T buy from buydig.com
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This a great printer. The photos come out sharp and clear. It takes 1 1/2 minutes to print a 4 x 6 photo and about 4 minutes to print an 8 1/2 x 11. I am really happy I purchased this printer. The only complaint I have is that it does not have a wireless connection.

At 50 cents per 8-1/2 x 11 photo, I'm very pleased with the ink cost.It was set up and printing within a half hour. Too easy!
About Me Professional
I use this to print photos for my customers and make passport photos. It works great, prints fast and is overall a great performer. I love it.
Will print on anything!!!

I invested in this printer because of my graphic design field, class, photos. I spend a lot of money on 12x18 papers that is at least 28lb/500 sheet or better. The quality is great!! for example, a project in class required me to print on a metallic paper surface, and it prints like a champ on Wassau paper!! it's amazing.[...]Highly recommended for this who needs to print 11x17 and higher!
Good unit - exactly what I needed

First let me say I've had a number of photo printers over the years. You can turn down the ink output. That helps considerably with it's thirst for ink and apparently doesn't degrade the photos. It does a great job with photos. The one glaring thing that bothers me is the paper stop is not centered for letter sized paper and doesn't cleanly handle that sized print jobs - it needs more than one stop - particularly printing in fast draft mode - it'll nearly throw paper across a small room.I have a HP D7260 that is nearly as quick printing - but it starts the jobs much quicker. It will also throw the paper if you forget to put the paper stop up, but at least it is in the center of the page.As wide as the carriage on the D8550 is it SHOULD HAVE at least TWO PAPER STOPS!!! Possibly one completely across the tray if you are handling mixed print jobs. I'm thinking of how I can attach a folding paper stop the width of the tray. But it's pretty hard to complain about anything on this unit given what it's price point is.

I purchased this printer to be able to print photos daily for a project I was working on. I was a little disappointed that without use of photo editing software on my PC, the prints came out quite dark, so I had to really lighten the images before printing. I think that using my PC, rather than just plugging in my card reader really made all the difference. Over all I am pleased with the performance and find that it performs just as describes...especially for the price, it was a good purchase.
