The DMC-FZ15 is a 4 megapixel consumer digital camera with a 12x optical zoom. Its F2.8 brightness across the entire 12x zoom range provides extraordinary image-rendering performance and puts you in control over a wide variety of shooting techniques. The DC Vario-Elmarit lens combines a comfortably small size with superb image rendering, and the Venus Engine LSI ensures that you will capture rich, expressive images. Furthermore, the MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer offsets unintentional hand movement to give you clear, sharp images even when taking handheld telephoto shots or shooting at night.
The DMC-FZ15 is versatile while still easy to use. It stores images on Secure Digital (SD) or Multi Media Cards (MMC) which combine high storage capacity, rapid data transfer, and flexibility - all in a card about the size of a postage stamp. A Motion Image Recording mode records moving images at a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels with no limit on segment length save for the available card capacity (sound recording not available with motion or still images). The camera includes a full complement of Photo Editing Software (ArcSoft PhotoBase, ArcSoft PhotoImpression, AcSoft Panorama Maker and SD Viewer for DSC)
Key Features:
12x Optical Zoom
The DMC-FZ15 has a 12x optical lens system that is equivalent to 35mm to 420mm in a 35mm film camera. It comprises 13 lenses in eight groups, including three aspherical lenses and boasts f/2.8 brightness across the entire zoom range. Plus, the DMC-FZ15 also provides 4x digital zooming--combine that with the 12x optical zoom to get up to 48x zoom power for ultra-long-distance telephoto shots.
Superb Quality Leica Lens
The Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens on the DMC-FZ15 follows in the Leica tradition of excellence. Although it is small in size, it has a large, bright aperture, meeting Leica's stringent quality standards. A Leica multi-coating process applied to the lens helps to prevent the fogging caused by flare, and ghosts that can result from excessive light. Even enlarged images captured by the DMC-FZ15K are crisp and clear - right to the edges.
Venus Engine II LSI
Thanks to the high-performance Venus Engine II LSI, shutter release time lag is reduced to approximately 0.008 seconds and the shutter interval to only around 0.4 seconds. This gives the DMC-FZ15 a super-fast response that lets you snap off consecutive shots at 3 frames per second with full resolution. And the Unlimited Consecutive Shooting function allows unlimited consecutive shooting up to the capacity of the SD Memory Card in the camera--ideal for capturing fast-moving objects in high resolution.
MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer
Offsets unintentional hand movement while you're taking pictures to give you clear, sharp images even when taking handheld telephoto shots or shooting at night. This optical technology provides precise compensation for movement with no image quality degradation.
Manual and Advanced Functions
In addition to the variety of convenient automatic controls, the DMC-FZ15 has full manual controls for exposure, focusing, and white balance. Manual exposure capability gives you complete freedom for capturing images according to your preferences, including intentional overexposure or underexposure. The manual focus ring provided on the lens barrel, like traditional camera lenses, allows you to focus on the particular part of your subject according to your preference. Finally, advanced histogram functions provide a graphic representation of the luminance level of the pixels composing an image for more precise exposure control for quality photos.
Intelligent Multiple Metering Mode
Provides incredible exposures by helping to improve brightness, color temperature and focus information. It also helps to determine the best exposure setting in difficult shooting situations - such as when there is intrusive backlighting.
Bundled Photo Editing Software
The photo editing software included with the Lumix DMC-FZ15 camera lets you turn your home computer into a virtual photo studio:
- SD Viewer for DSC - Makes it easy to check image data on an SD Memory Card. Use it to create slide shows and save them on an SD Memory Card (Windows)
- ArcSoft PhotoBase - Transfer images from an SD Memory Card to a PC and display them in a list
- ArcSoft PhotoImpression - Adjust colors and process images to create calendars, cards, etc.
- ArcSoft Panorama Maker - Merge separate photos to create a single image
Print Directly From Your Camera
You can send images directly to print, without the need of a PC, when using PictBridge compatible printers.
