The DMC-LZ3 comes with a 6x optical zoom (37mm?222mm zoom on a 35mm film camera) lens, while keeping the body size as compact as ordinary 3x zoom cameras. Use the 6x optical zoom together with the 4x digital zoom to get up to 24x zoom power, which is like a 888mm zoom lens on 35mm camera. This powerful zoom lets you easily capture and magnify subjects in distant locations, and produces impressive photos with soft-focused backgrounds. The zoom lens crystallizes Panasonic?s optics technology, using two aspherical lenses to achieve boost in optical performance, while remaining compact.

Venus Engine Plus
  
In many digital cameras, the LSI, the brain of the camera, generates the luminance signal from the green component of the incoming light. The Venus Engine Plus LSI generates this signal from the red and blue components as well as the green. This rich luminance signal information boosts diagonal resolution by around 50% to give you superb images. By adjusting the amount of noise reduction depending on the brightness of the subject, the DMC-LZ3 fully preserves image resolution in bright areas and reduces noise in darker areas to as much as 1/3 of previous levels.

MEGA O.I.S. Plus High Sensitivity Mode

Blurred images have two main causes. One is hand-shake, and other is the subject movement. Since the majority of blurry images are caused by hand-shake, MEGA O.I.S. is effective in most shooting situations, such as dimly lit indoor shots, nighttime shots or macro shots. However, when taking indoor shots of moving subjects, the movement of the subject tends to cause blurring. You can use High Sensitivity Mode to prevent hazy motion effects and to get great photos every time. With addition of High Sensitivity mode to MEGA O.I.S., LUMIX has further expanded your range of crisp, clear photo expression.
