Beautiful Ideas to do for Your Autumn Photography

October 5, 2020 by BuyDig Team Leave a Comment

Once autumn arrives, you can usually point your camera in any direction and come away with an amazing image. However, it’s still always better to have a few ideas tucked into your pocket before you venture out into the crisp autumn air. Here are some tips and creative ideas for creative autumn portraits and breathtaking scenery.

Autumn Portraits

Compliment the colors
Typically, photographers request that their subject wear outfits that will contrast with the background. When photographing autumn portraits, try having your subject wear something that will actually blend in with the surroundings instead. An orange, red or yellow toned sweater or jacket will work well for blending into a forest of autumn trees, or a pile of fallen leaves. Add scarves and hats to make the chill in the air come alive in your images.

The Right Angle
The purpose of taking portraits during autumn months certainly isn’t just about the subject, it’s about the surroundings as well. Make sure you include those colorful surroundings by shooting from a low angle. Shooting from a lower angle will allow you to include trees and the sky in your autumn portraits.

Wide Angle
Don’t want to get down and dirty for a low angle shot? Use your Nikon NIKKOR Full Frame Wide Zoom Lens from Buydig.com to capture your subject’s surroundings. Just be sure to keep your subject in the center of the photo.

Don’t Focus on your Subject
Want to try something other than focusing on the person with your autumn portrait photography? You heard that right. Take your autumn portraits to a new level by not focusing on the main subject for a change. Set the aperture to f/1.8 on your Sony a7C from Buydig.com. Aim your focus away from your subject while having them toss some leaves into the air. This will highlight some of the leaves while placing your subject more in the background; gone but not forgotten.

Autumn Inspirations

Close ups
At the first sign of autumn, every photographer rushes out to capture images of a forest full of vibrant, leaf-covered trees. Step outside the traditional autumn photography box and go for non-traditional shots. Search for those single colorful leaves for your autumn photography. Capture the details by getting up close to colorful leaves that still remain on the trees, or random leaves that have recently fallen to the ground.

All in a Row
Move your autumn photography focus from a grouping of trees in the forest. Try to find a row of colorful trees in a park, or along the side of a road. Do your best to time your shot so the trees are still mostly full of leaves with a few carpeting the ground.

Aerial View
Take your drone along for some new perspectives of the autumn foliage this fall. Take to the air and point the camera straight down over the treetops to capture a canopy of bright colors.

Use these beautiful ideas for your autumn photography to create some truly colorful images this fall.
