Fun Traditions that will Make the Holidays Magical

December 16, 2017 by BuyDig Team Leave a Comment

What your kids will remember long after the decorations are put away, and school is back in session are the traditions shared and enjoyed each holiday season. Looking for new holiday traditions to begin with your family? Start the season off merry and bright with some fun traditions from our list this year.

Start an Ornament Collection
Capture memories in the form of special ornaments that grow your collection each year. Commemorate your baby’s first Christmas. A child’s special interest, frame school photos to hang on the tree, or even make one together with your kids as a fun craft project. When they are older and have a tree or family of their own, they’ll have a collection they started in childhood.

Make a tree garland
The finishing touch on the tree can be as simple as construction paper rings kids can easily make.  Or intricate paper snowflake cutouts strung along pretty ribbon. Don’t forget the messy but fun stringing of the popcorn!

Visit a tree farm
Start your family’s holiday festivities off right by bundling up and heading to a local Christmas tree farm to search for the perfect tree. Many tree farms offer hayrides, sleigh rides, and other family-friendly activities. Take along your camera because who knows? Santa may even show up!

Gingerbread houses
Whether using the pre-built Gingerbread houses, graham crackers, or starting from scratch with a batch of cookie dough mixed with your KitchenAid Professional Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer from Buydig.com, your kids will enjoy adding a personal touch by picking out colorful candy as well as small items such as cars, toys, animals and other things you have lying around the house.

Go “light seeing”
Whether your house is aglow in holiday lights or you prefer to let others do the outdoor decorating, pick a night where you all pack in the car and drive around to see the dazzling displays in your neighborhood. Pack hot cocoa or apple cider in insulated cups and set off singing your favorite holiday tunes along the way.

Trim the tree together
Let go of having the perfect looking HGTV inspired tree and involve your kids in decorating. Be sure to supervise the unpacking of ornaments and hooks to avoid breakage or injury to little hands. Then, take turns hanging ornaments on the tree while streaming your favorite holiday tunes on your Bluetooth speaker. A boost from mom or dad to reach high branches is sure to produce giggles and a photo-worthy moment you can capture with your Sony Cyber-Shot from Buydig.com.

Bake cookies with the kids
Let your kids pick out one type of cookie you can make together and spend a few hours baking one-on-one using your KitchenAid 12” Convection Bake Countertop Oven to double the amount of deliciousness. Once everything is done, put some of the goodies in a festive container with a nice note. Than take it to a neighbor or teacher at school.

Wear matching Pjs
Start a Christmas Eve tradition where you all open up one special gift that you can use right away, coordinating pajamas. If you have pets, this makes for a nice gift from the furry members of the family.

Give back- Make others’ lives merry and bright during the holiday season. Wrap gifts to help kids in need have a happier holiday season. Volunteer at your local homeless shelter or senior living community. Or, send supplies and greeting cards to soldiers stationed away from their families during the holidays.

What makes the holidays magical, are the traditions and experiences that you share with your famil. Most i mportantly the time spent together as a family.
