Wedding Planning Tips Every Bride Should Avoid

February 24, 2018 by BuyDig Team Leave a Comment

From the moment you announce your engagement, everyone is an expert and ready to give you wedding advice. Not all of that advice is going to be the best to take. Here are some tips you should definitely avoid when planning your wedding so your special day will go off without a hitch.

Skimp on the Food
Past brides will try to tell you that nobody eats the food. But the truth is, the food is one of the main things guests remember about your wedding. So, if it’s within your budget, try to make sure there are several food options, as well as something that will make even the pickiest eaters happy.

Improve Your Vows
Spend quality time writing your vows on your HP laptop from Buydig.com and even memorizing them if you can. You’ll be so nervous and emotional on the day of your wedding. You may not be able to speak off the cuff.

Wait for Your Wedding Dress to Go on Sale
Think the longer you wait to buy your wedding dress the cheaper it will be? Don’t wait for flash sales or a coupon to arrive in the mail. The longer you wait to buy the dress the more expensive alterations may be if you need it in a rush. Plus, you’ll have the added stress of waiting until the last-minute.

Skip the Open Bar and Do BYOB
Depending on your crowd, guests bringing their own alcohol can be a disaster waiting to happen. If you’re not able to afford an open bar, consider doing an open bar for an hour or two and then switching to a cash bar to save a bit of money.

DIY as Much as You Can
You may think you’ll save a ton of cash DIY’ing your whole wedding, but you could spend a lot more time on arts and crafts. You also may end up spending more than you think on the bits and pieces, totally counteracting paying someone to help do the decorations for you. Remember: Time is money.

Giving a False Start Time
Don’t tell guests the ceremony starts earlier than it actually does! Not only does putting a false start time on the invitation cause confusion for your guests, it will also create a scheduling mess for your vendors. Most guests know that the time on the invitation is the actual start time, and will plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early with their Point and Shoot cameras from Buydig.com ready to shoot.

Think You Don’t Need a Day-Of Coordinator
Without a coordinator, you will be the one stuck dealing with all the tiny details. A pro will make sure everything is in order and catch those problems without you even needing to know about them.

Don’t Assume Guests Aren’t Coming
Don’t just invite whoever you want under the assumption that most probably won’t come anyway. Playing a guessing game with your guest list can cause issues with your budget when those extra responses begin to arrive. Be sure to account for each guest as you invite them. Make sure you allow for every single person’s attendance in the budget.

Don’t Assume Mother Nature is on Your Side
No bride wants to think it will rain on their big day. But denying the fact that inclement weather is possible is simply irresponsible, especially for an outdoor event. You can’t control the weather no matter how hard you try. So have a plan B and be prepared to use it.

It’s important to recognize what advice is actually helpful and what advice should be totally ignored.
