You’ll be spending almost the entire day with the photographer you choose, so in addition to loving their style, having an in-person interview is a great way to make sure you’ll be happy to have them around. How would you describe your style?
Most shooters use a blend of several different styles of photography. If portraits are important to you, for example, you’ll want to make sure they shoot portraits. Going with the style a photographer likes to shoot best and has the most experience shooting will give you the best results. Just make sure it’s the style you’re going for.
Have you ever photographed a wedding at our venue before?
If the answer is yes, ask to see the images that were shot to make sure they mesh with your vision. If the answer is no, it’s certainly not a deal-breaker. See if the photographer would be willing to check out your location in advance of the wedding to pick backdrops, etc.
How many weddings have you shot, and have you shot ones similar to ours?
This is a great question to get an idea of how much experience your photographer has in general. Years are not a good gauge of experience since some wedding photographers may work part time, and only shoot five weddings a year.
Will there be a second shooter?
