Summer is Over: Planning for a Faster & Safer Commute as Roads get Busier!

September 2, 2017 by BuyDig Team Leave a Comment

Summer vacation time is over. The kids are back in school. If you are one of the millions of people who have to commute back and forth to work each day, you know how much more crowded the streets are about to become. Even with knowing how monotonous the drive can get,  you never know what may happen. Being prepared is the best way to ensure your safety each day. So we’ve compiled these tips to keep you safe and save you time as you commute every day.

Plan around traffic
Stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic and need to find a way around your normal high traffic commute route? To avoid staring at brake lights for hours, check out Google’s traffic mapping on your desktop. As well as an iPhone or Android units for alternate routes.  If you commute within a larger city, try a service like Commuter Feed to find a way around traffic jams.

Use a GPS
If you’re looking for the most detailed maps, and spoken traffic alerts, use a Garmin nuvi Advanced Series 5” GPS Navigation System from Buydig.com during your commute. This GPS device will give you details about traffic alerts and how long of a delay to expect. You’ll never have to worry about being out of cell range. It does not rely on cellular signals and is not affected by cellular dead zones.

Radar detectors
When commuting, you try your best to stay within the speed limit. It can be easy to focus elsewhere and lose track of just how fast you’re going. We all have moments at some point when we look down at the speedometer and think, “How did I get going this fast?” With an Escort Passport S55 High Performance Radar and Laser Detector you will know if a police officer or state trooper is nearby so you can adjust your speed accordingly. The main benefit of a radar detector is to make you aware of an officer in the area who is using an active radar device. When you have confirmed the presence of an active radar signal, you can be sure to check speed and reduce if necessary, and avoid the speeding ticket.

Invest in a dash cam
Dash cams like the ArmorAll Universal HD Dashboard Camera from Buydig.com are essentially protective devices. A dash cam can provide invaluable information about a crash or incident you experienced on the road. It could be a lifesaver.

U.S. commuters spend an average of 50 minutes in their car each day, and that leaves a lot of room for improvement. Make the most of your commute with these 10 tips.
