Chromatic aberration that can be a problem in telephoto lenses is thoroughly suppressed by the use of four ED (Extra-low-Dispersion) glass elements and two Super ED glass elements. Color bleeding is banished so the subject can be captured with maximum sharpness.

Two heavy focus groups are rapidly and precisely positioned by separate actuators: a powerful ring SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) actuator for the front group, and a double linear motor actuator for the rear group. Class-leading close-up performance
