Pre-scan times are a mere 5 seconds for Windows and 8 seconds for Macintosh, and the final scan is done at just 21 seconds per frame (Windows and Macintosh). Automated image correction features streamline productiviy - freeing the user from time consuming and redundant editing proceedures. Auto Dust Brush automatically detects dust on the film surface that blowers cannot remove, and corrects the image. Moreover, a Photoshop Plug-in has been added so that images can be corrected in real-time using the bundled Photoshop Elements 2.0 software. Users can also select areas for correction, and adjust the processing level. Pixel Polish software brings various corrective features for matching the overall image to specific elements in the picture such as person, night scene, trees and sky, in addition to allowing the user to restore faded colors, or correcting backlit and under/over exposure. Digital Grain Dissolver reduces the affect of grain in color film without sacrificing original image detail. The real test for a film scanner is how well it can produce an image from color negative film, due to the film's inherent latitude and the differences between the densities and contrast of the cyan, magenta, and yellow layers. Konica Minolta improved negative-to-positive conversion algorithm ensures effortless image production with true-to-life results. A new film holder and hardware updates allow the film to be scanned from corner to corner; equivalent to a 100% field of view. The Quick Scan function launches the scanner and software with the simple press of a button. It lets you select the DiMAGE Scan Utility, the Easy Scan Utility, or the Batch Scan Utility as well as set an automatic shortcut to a specific application. The Batch Scan Utility enables you to scan large volumes of film without having to make individual settings for each image; simply press the scan button to activate the utility for each batch of film. Multi-sample scanning reduces random noise in dark areas by scanning with multiple exposures. Two, four, eight, or sixteen exposures can be selected. The Easy Scan Utility simplifies the scanning procedure for those new to scanning and image processing. Simply select the film type, the pictures to be scanned, and how the images are to be used; the Scan Dual IV will do the rest. Automatic image processing can also be applied. The images can then be saved directly to the computer or output to a printer. The eye-catching Minolta Scan Dual IV appearance reflects the sophisticated technology within.
