The 8.1-megapixel Nikon Coolpix S51 features an optically stabilized f/3.3-4.2, 38mm-114mm (35mm equivalent) 3x zoom lens and 230,000-pixel, 3-inch LCD. The camera's LCD offers a wide 160-degree viewing angle and an antireflective coating. The S51 offers a top light-sensitivity setting of ISO 1600. In addition to recording voice memos and smooth VGA video with sound, it includes Nikon's Pictmotion feature, which lets users create slide shows with music, timelapse movies, and stop-motion clips. The camera offers numerous automatic shooting modes, 1.6-in. macro focusing, in-camera redeye removal, and Nikon's D-Lighting feature, which automatically opens up dark shadow areas in playback mode. The S51 can capture photos in both standard and widescreen 16:9 aspect ratios, and also provides face-detection technology. Nikon says its performance has been improved over that of the system used in earlier models
