I bought this lens early 2017. I love this lens It has worked great in Weddings, Wildlife shots. While some may say it is to heavy to use without a Tripod or to carry around. Well I had no issue carrying it around through the forest, across streams etc all day. Beautiful pictures come from this lens.

This lens is well worth the price. It is sharp, clear and precise through out its range from 70-200mm. In gyms with very poor lighting, this lens shines! I take basketball pictures and they are awesome with this lens. It makes me looks like a professional photographer with years of experience. Another aspect of the lens that I never thought of is its white color. When people see that lens on your camera, people give you more respect and access to more areas of a football field, gym or track. They believe you are a true professional when you carry and use this lens.

After a 30 year hiatus from motorcycle race photography I took my first race and the results were spectacular. Used the lens at 200mm with 1.4X ll convertor. Even in the overcast the autofocus was fast and the shots were very sharp. Panning required me to be in AI servo, mode 2 AF and in most cases it worked very well, Would have liked to try the second day when the light was better. That day was dedicated to working with my 400mm 5.6 (see review). I will switch back to center point autofocus as it offers more control over a particular subject in a pack. Overall, my experience with this lens makes it highly recommended. I just have to work on my panning, especially on the straights where bikes are moving 250+ft./second.

I have owned this lens for 9 years took my wedding with it on a 10D. Great portraiture lens especially in low light. In any situation the bokeh is the best. Nature shots, its a bit bulky and heavy for carry. I use it with a Canon 1.4x ll converter and still wanting for more magnification. The 2x at 200 is soft. The auto focus could be faster and the minimum focus distance could be a little shorter. Overall, I love this lens. My only real beef is that I must have received a product where the bayonett is on the sloppy side of the tolerence as it moves in place. None of my current or former Canon lenses do this. For Birds I have been taking out my 400mm 5.6 with a 1.4x at 560mm it is still tack sharp. I will be changing to motorcycle racing events and will report on the 70-200 and its IS functions soon.

I am an avid photographer with acess to a very wide assortment of canon and off brand lenses and this lens is the best i have ever used. Compared to the 70-200 f4 this is a bmw 7 series next to a ford ranger. The f4 is great but the 2.8 is magical. I am saving up my pennies and dimes, forgoing buying a car and selling my limbs( not really) to purchase this lens

I have wanted this lens for ages, and finally took the plunge and all I can say is I wish I had gotten it sooner! Fantastic images and super fast AF! Great for equine photography both outside and in a covered arena. This lens is a must have for anyone that can afford to get it! If you're on the fence, go ahead and get it! You won't regret it!

It's all been said in other reviews. This lens is great, sure it has some flaws but not many. If you are looking for good reliable lens this is a good choice. Version 2 is better but for the price differences this is a good buy.
