Overview
Drawing on 40 years of experience, Olympus has put a feature-packed audio studio in one 5-ounce PCM recorder. The LS-11, with two high-sensitivity microphones and 8GB of internal memory, is the star of the show when it comes to capturing and playing back crystal clear audio, whether for personal enjoyment, hobbies, or even important business functions.

  • 24bit / 96kHz Linear PCM Recording
  • 8GB Built-in Memory and SD Card Slot
  • WAV, MP3 and WMA Recording (Stereo and Monaural)

24bit / 96kHz Linear PCM Recording.
Every note played by the band, every word selected by the guest speaker, every bark and chirp heard in the local park, and every giggle from the kids in the backyard ? the digital recording capabilities of the LS-11 help capture it all in rich, better-than-CD quality sound.

8GB of Memory, 23 Hours of Battery Life.
When you combine its 8GB of memory with its ultra-long battery life (up to 23 hours), you immediately see how the LS-11 benefits those who demand hours upon hours of effortless, worry-free audio recording. An additional 32GB of memory can be added with an SD or SDHC card.

Multiple Formats and Features.
With the LS-11 you can do stereo or mono recording in WAV, MP3 or WMA formats, fine tune your recording with an LCD-displayed level meter, edit the audio files, or use an auto-record function that activates (and shuts off) the LS-11 at pre-set levels. Sounds good!

Features
24 bit/ 96 kHz linear PCM recording
Sound that?s even better than what you hear on a compact disc. Every nuance of every note and syllable is captured and played back with a rich and resonant quality.

MP3, WMA and WAV Recording
Select from one of three standard recording formats: WAV, MP3 or WMA. The availability of three compatible formats increases the versatility of decisive, on-the-spot audio recording.

High-Sensitivity Microphones
Responsive Pickup, Precision Design. Two precision condenser microphones capture all the sounds with both heightened sensitivity and reduced noise. Their 90-degree outward placement achieves a wider spectrum of sound capture. And the recorder?s rigid aluminum case minimizes vibration for even extra clarity.

8GB Internal Memory and 23 Hours of Battery Life
8 GB of internal memory, coupled with as much as 23 hours of battery life, provides many hours of uninterrupted recording. An AC adapter is also available.

SD and SDHC Card Compatibility
An extra 32 GB of memory is available with an SD or SDHC card. Move files easily between internal and external memory.

Lightweight and Portable
At just over five ounces, with an easy-to-operate interface and aesthetically pleasing design, it is a true anywhere-anytime portable digital recorder.

Built-in Stereo Speakers
Two built-in 16mm round dynamic stereo speakers give the small wonder a wonderfully full and vibrant playback. Earphones can also be used.

Voice Synchronization
A voice synchronization function enables automatic recording when sounds are detected at a pre-set level. There?s auto stop, too.

Level Function
Recording preferences can be fine-tuned with a Level function that?s clearly displayed, along with a PEAK indicator, on the recorder?s bright LCD.

Index Marks
Create Index marks during recording or playback in PCM mode to instantly locate specific portions of the recording that you want to hear.

File Editing
With a new File Edit function, you can partially cut or divide your files.

Pros: Low Distortion, Powerful, Excellent Sound, Easy To Use, Versatile Cons: Other thoughts: I use this in my voice studio in order to record students for immediate feedback or for downloading onto CD for audition or other purposes. I had used one of these at school, but had purchased another kind of recorder to try for my personal use. I was dissatisfied with that one, and after one use, decided to return it and order this. I am well pleased.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Pros: Versatile, Excellent Sound, Powerful, Low Distortion, Quality Build Cons: None Other thoughts: The recorder was purchased primarily to tape phone orders for business via the Olympus TP-7 auxiliary microphone accessory. Performs as expected. Recording quality is first rate, especially in the PCM mode. Although, there are two external speakers in the back of the unit, these are only to check recording. Use with headphones or earbuds provides a true picture of the full sound depth and quality this machine is capable of recording. The recorder offers professional features like multiple reverb controls that can impart a concert hall sound to any recording. It can also utilize up to a 32 gigabyte SDHC card for added recording time. The unit has 8 Gigabytes of internal memory as well. Battery life is excellent at over 20 hours! The menus take a little time to familiarize oneself, but the instructions are straightforward and easily digested even for the neophyte. The unit feels solid and is well built in an aluminum case. The menu screen is back lit (useful in low light concert halls) and has good contrast controls. The unit interfaces with both PC's and Macs via the included USB cable. Other accessories include a carrying case, wrist strap, 2 AA batteries, cubase 4 software CD, instruction book, input-output transfer cable. All in all, an excellent recorder for the money in a compact, solid package.

Pros: Versatile, Easy To Use, Low Distortion, Excellent Sound, Powerful Cons: Other thoughts: Coming from a Sony minidisc recorder, got tired of the analog conversion getting recordings into the pc. The LS-11 rocks, super clarity, easy to use, flexible, well built-solid construction, comparatively small size, built in 8G takes care of most peoples need (save money). Also bought the remote. Its simple, effective works fine across a 12' room maybe further, don't know.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Pros: LCD size is not too small, Menu is well laid out, Thin profile is a plus, Versatile, Speakers are very useful, Physical design is XLNT, Easy To Use, Excellent Sound Cons: It won't make espresso Other thoughts: While rehearsing, it is so easy to document the proceedings. I would buy this unit again if lost or stolen. I also bought the remote control, which only has record start/stop function, but that's all you need. And the unit plug-in part has adjustable IR receiver screen that can be rotated to be in line with your hand-held remote switch. That is very well thought out. The built-in playback re-verb and other FX are fun to use when you might connect the output to, say, your car stereo. The built-in speakers are very small but this is not a 'doof-box'. For referencing and verifying, these speakers are perfectly sized. On the sides where the volume controls are, there are ridges on the casing that protect the rotary controls from damage. That's another very good design feature. The build quality seems very good, comparable to Sony, which I'm familiar with for over 30 years now. This unit is made in China. Because China doesn't yet have a good reliability reputation, I got the added 3 year parts/labor warranty for $20.00, which is a bargain. I looked into the Sony and Zoom products, which are also very good, but I am very happy with the LS-11.

Pros: Powerful, Excellent Sound, Versatile, Clarity beyond belief, Low Distortion, Easy To Use Cons: Other thoughts: The Olympus LS11 has so many capabilities and adjustments that it is wonderful! I do audio book recordings, church meetings, musical recordings, songs, etc., and the LS-11 is a recording studio all in itself! Terrific memory! I have approximately 20 GB of audio book recordings in mono MP3 format, that I can store in the Music section, while doing new recordings in the folders sections. The LS-11 is a work of art!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
