5 Ideas for the Perfect Backyard Labor Day Party

September 7, 2020 by BuyDig Team Leave a Comment

With Labor Day weekend just a few days away, the end of summer is upon us. Don’t feel depressed about your days of the fun-in-the-sun coming to an end. How about going out with a bang with these labor Day party ideas instead?

Water Everywhere!
Starting your backyard Labor Day party early, during the heat of the day? If that’s the case, what better way to do that than with a pool party? If you don’t have a swimming pool, you can still have a water party! Set out tarps in the yard with sprinklers scattered around on top of them to create your own DIY slip-n-slides! Of course no water event would be complete without water balloons! Continue the water theme with sliced watermelon set up to snack on during breaks.

Backyard BBQ
It wouldn’t be a backyard Labor Day party without great food! Fire up your Lotus Grill Tailgater Portable Charcoal Grill and toss on some burgers, hotdogs, kabobs or steaks! Make it casual and easy on yourself by setting up buffet-style. Go potluck on the sides and desserts by having your family and friends bring those.

Outdoor Arcade
Have a competitive family or group of friends? Organize teams, and have a fun Labor Day tournament. Set up multiple “big screens” for virtual games you can stream through projectors from Buydig.com. Any flat, light colored surface will work as a screen. Use large white sheets strung between trees, the side of the house, the garage door or walls, and even the white privacy fence enclosing your yard. Set up multiple family favorite games around the yard for some physical competition as well. You can’t go wrong with the Labor Day classic Badminton. Everyone loves a good game of tic-tac-toe. Make a human version by having players hold large cardboard cutouts of X’s and O’s. Pull out the classic Twister game to get everyone tangled up in the fun!

Backyard Movie Theater
After the winners have been declared, end the friendly competition with a backyard movie night. This will be an easy transition from the outdoor arcade. Just choose one of the “big screens’ and projectors you already have set up to use for the movie. Stream the chosen movie through the projector, and the Bluetooth speakers you’ve hooked up to create the theater surround sound. Set out some lawn chairs, blankets, beach towels and pillows for comfy seating. Don’t forget the snacks!

Rain Delay?
Mother Nature doesn’t want to cooperate with your backyard Labor Day party plans? No problem! Simply move the party indoors! Pack up the food, and move it to the kitchen. You can still serve it all buffet style. Have everyone grab a game and set it up indoors. You may have to downsize any of the yard-sized versions, but that’s ok. No need for a rain check on the backyard movie night either. Just move the movie to your LG Big Screen TV from Buydig.com. Don’t forget to grab the popcorn on your way in!

Use one or all of these ideas to help make your backyard Labor Day party the best celebration of the summer!
