5 Tips for Working Out at Home This May

May 16, 2018 by BuyDig Team Leave a Comment

At-home workouts come with their own unique set of challenges. One of the biggest is finding ways to stay motivated when no one’s watching. Try these 5 tips that will motivate you to work out at home, even if you don’t feel like it.

Find Something You Love Doing
The most important thing you can do is find a routine you’re actually going to enjoy doing at home. Certain workouts that require heavy equipment won’t work very well. But the good news, thanks to technology, you have access to an endless amount of at-home exercise options. Think about what types of activities you enjoy, and then do some research. There are fitness apps that transform your phone into a personal trainer, and live stream videos that turn your living room into a fitness studio. With such a variety of options, you can easily find a fitness routine that will work for you.

Pencil it In
Schedule your workout like it’s an appointment. Prioritize exercise by blocking out time on your calendar and then planning your days and weeks around those blocks. Life getting in the way? Don’t worry just get something in. Family walks, lunges while wearing a fussy baby, squats while cooking dinner, even running up and down the stairs between lunch prep count. Just keep moving.

Personal Space
You’ll need to make whatever space you have work. That might mean setting up a mini gym in your basement or simply moving the coffee table over three inches to fit a yoga mat. Whatever you have to move, set up or dismantle, do it well before your scheduled workout so there are no excuses. Having your own mini “gym” is such a great way to feel like you’re in control of your workouts. Try keeping a basket with weights and your Black Mountain 7-Piece Fitness Kit from Buydig.com in the same area as your rolled-up yoga mat. Leave them all in the room where the computer is that you use to stream workouts. If everything is organized and in one place, it’s more efficient and makes working out sound like less of a chore. You never want to have to scramble to find something you need.

Use a Fitness Tracker
You’ll do more and workout harder when you’re wearing a Garmin Vivofit 2 Bluetooth Fitness Band from Buydig.com. You’ll be able to challenge yourself to get enough steps, and set up challenges with other people. Most days, as long as you work out, you can get in your 10K steps.

Dress for Success
Take advantage of the spandex and yoga pants trend and throw on workout clothes every chance you get. Why? Studies suggest that simply wearing workout gear can help motivate you to exercise. On workdays, come home and change into your workout clothes before anything else. On weekends put them on first thing in the morning.

Working out at home isn’t hard. But it does take some dedication and scheduling to make it successful. If you take these steps, you’ll become a pro at working out at home.
