Fun Indoor and Outdoor Winter Activities for Kids (and Adults)

January 13, 2018 by BuyDig Team Leave a Comment

The weather outside may be frightful, but we have some ways you and your kids can still have a blast this winter.

Outdoor fun
Cold, snowy days are calling your kids outside. Here are some fun winter activities for children of all ages. Just make sure you have the hot cocoa ready when everyone comes back inside!

Sledding
There’s nothing better than gliding through the cold air on a sled. Find a good hill and grab your tube, toboggan, or saucer for hours of entertainment.

Snow angels
Fluffy snow? Check. Snow suit? Check. That’s all the gear kids of any age need to create a snow angel. Add to the fun by using materials to decorate your angel, such as food coloring to draw on a face, and old clothes and accessories to dress it up. Why should snowmen have all the fun?

Build a snowman
Toddlers and big kids alike will love making a snowman in the yard. After stacking a few big snowballs to make the body, kids can use their imagination to find fruits, vegetables, sticks, berries, clothes, and other materials to bring their snowman to life.

Igloo building
Children who have graduated from building snowmen can spend hours constructing an igloo or snow fort. Kids can use a shovel or their hands to build one of these arctic domes.

Indoor fun- Once they are inside and you’re looking for ways to keep them entertained, these indoor activities should keep them from going stir-crazy while helping you maintain your sanity!

Fireside camp out
If you have a fireplace, a wintery day is a great time to light it up. Have a little camp-out next to it with comfy pillows, snacks, and games. This is also a great option if you are without power.

Dress-up day
This is a great time for to get out old Halloween costumes, dress-up gear, or sports equipment for some pretend play. Make sure you capture some of these looks with your camera from Buydig.com.

Make silly putty
This childhood favorite is a cinch to make, and it will provide hours of entertainment for your little ones. Best of all, it won’t make a mess!

Make soap crayons
Make bath time fun for your child with this simple activity. Your child can help make the soap crayons, and then use them to draw on the tiles and himself during bath time.

And for the adults
Cold days call for hot drinks and nothing will warm you up faster than a spiked cup of coffee, cocoa or tea.

Dorda espresso
Even espresso can handle a spirit or two. Use your espresso machine from Buydig.com to create a fantastic coffee cocktail with the rich double-chocolate liqueur from Dorda and a hint of amaretto.

Warm mulled pomegranate
Add a hint of pomegranate to your mulled wine mix and enjoy this cozy cocktail that’s like a warm sangria.

Caramel Irish coffee
An indulgent take on that classic Irish coffee is the caramel Irish coffee. This recipe adds butterscotch schnapps and Baileys Irish cream to the mix. The result is a luscious, sweet and soothing coffee cocktail that deserves a heaping pile of whipped cream.

Use these ideas to cure cabin fever and keep your kids, and yourself, happy and busy all winter long.
