Able Planet NC510B Sound Clarity Around-the-Ear Active Noise Canceling Headphones

These Able Planet headphones were a great purchase prior to my trip to Alaska. I was on a plane for 9 hours and used the headphones 90% of the time. It was also a pleasure doing business with BUYDIG they were spot on with the information about the product and I received the headphones in just a couple days.

The Ear piece disconnected from the bar that goes over your head, This happened the first day.

Used to listen to IPod music and to watch movies on a long flight. The airline adapters worked great. Cuts out unwanted background noise. Good sound quality. We are very happy with the purchase. I found my jaw got tired from the pressure of the headphones when I was eating while wearing the headset.

I bought a pair of these headphones last November, because I fly across country frequently, and wanted something to kill the "airplane" noise, plus give me great sound while watching movies on my iPad.

I tested several brands in stores (Able Planet, Bose, Dr. Dre, JVC, Sony, etc.), and they all sounded good...in the store. And I will admit that the Bose Quiet Comfort 15 did have better sound quality than all the others, though they were only slightly better sounding than the Able Planet NC510B's. However, Able Planet's noise canceling was MUCH better than Bose's (in my opinion), plus, the Bose cost 3 times as much. So taking all that into account, and after reading several online reviews of Able Planet's technology, I decided to give them a try.

I can honestly say that even though I paid just under $100, I don't regret the purchase one bit! It's amazing how much noise they eliminate on an airplane. And even after a 4+ hour cross-country flight, my ears aren't sweaty and they don't hurt at all.

It's true what other reivewers have said that, if you turn off the noise-canceling feature, the NC510B's sound quality drops dramatically. But the whole purpose of buying noise-canceling headphones is to cancel noise, so that's really a senseless complaint.

The only thing that I would like to see changed is the placement of the on/off switch. It's on the back edge of the left ear cup, which is nice and out-of-the-way when you have them on. However, when folded flat and placed in the storage container, it rests up against the edge of the right ear cup. If it's just sitting in a closet between uses, nothing moves so you won't have any problems. But if you keep them in a backpack or a suitcase and it bounces around, there's a chance that the two ear cups could move slightly and rub together, causing the power to turn on accidentally.

The batteries typically last me about 40 hours, which is a long time when you're watching movies or listening to music. But when it's sitting in a suitcase between flights and it accidentally turns on, 40 hours will go buy in a heartbeat, so you might have an unpleasant surprise of dead batteries the next time you take them out.

But this isn't any reason to not buy them. I put a thin piece of foam between the cups to separate them just a bit, and the problem went away. Or if you don't want to do that, you can just take the batteries out between uses, or better yet, there's a little pouch on the inside of the storage container to store the wire, and you can keep a couple extra AAA batteries in there for emergencies.

So in a nutshell, these are awesome headphones, and I've recommended them to several people who have asked me about them during my flights, not to mention friends and family in need of good quality headphones.

used it for a couple of weeks for now, everything works great, especially the sound. I tried Bose QC15 before, actually the sound quality is not much of a difference. The cushion of the ear cup is a little bit of hard, and the inner ear part is flat so it do touch your ear, I feel a little bit of uncomfortable after few hours of usage.
For this price and the sound quality, It's highly recommended.
