Great headphones, but comfort issues.
These are some of the best headphones for the money. I would recommend these to anyone who doesn't demand portability. The one issue I have with these headphones is that the pads do not feel comfortable. I've heard that it's a good idea to replace them with the a1000x pads. In any case, it's not awful, just something you come to notice if you use them for many hours on end like I do. I have a big head, and don't have any issues with the wings system. I am currently using these with the antlion modmic 2.0, which is a great combination if you want to use these for skype.
Great sound, not so great construction

These are great hooked up to a FiiO E10 DAC/amp. I use them for everything from gaming to music (metal) and movies and the performance is excellent with a surprisingly wide sound stage for closed headphones. I have a fairly big head (need size 7-3/4 to 8 hats) and wear glasses, yet I don't find these phones to be uncomfortable for long listening sessions. They are also made in Japan, which is surprising because the one gripe I have with these is that they don't seem to be durably made. These are definitely not headphones you should throw into a bookbag with a bunch of textbooks. The cord is not detachable. I'm also not sure if the "wings" that are supposed to self-adjust and suspend the headphones off your head are a better idea than the usual adjustable headband found on most other phones. They seem to be the most fragile part of the phones, constructed entirely of light plastic.Still, on sale these are a bargain for the sound quality.

Not so good for its price
The ATH-A900X is not so good as it described. It is easily drop down from you head, since my head is already "big enough".After ~3 weeks running, the sound becomes a little bit better, but not high is still too high that some time can not stand it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Lacking on the lower end.
Mids and Highs are fantastic. Low end is rolled off and lacking. Probally have to spend more on the AT train to get better sound. You get what you pay for with this model.
Fantastic sound at a low low price
from Bagram, AF
Give them 40 or so hours to break in. Very neutral, natural sound. Great mids and highs. Not overbearing lows, but there and well-defined. Sublime. Fit very well; love the wings on the sides vs. headband as w/ most cans.
Great pair of cans when paired with amp
from Bellevue, WA
Great sounding pair of cans when paired with iphone/ipod after burn-in period and used with a good headphone amplifier. Moderate sized sound stage and neutral tones. My copy had slightly unbalanced drivers between left and right, so listen carefully.
I bought these because I wanted an upgrade from my Sennheiser hd-280 pro headphones. The sound is definitely better and more expansive. It's a lot easier to hear instruments and voices separately. That said they were big and fit a little bit weird on my head. I had to use a rubber band to fix the fit and now they feel fine. Definitely would recommend these to anyone wanting a good pair of headphones at home.
Great headphones, great price

You really can't beat them for the price. The sound quality is exceptional and they are actually quite comfortable. My initial impression wasn't great with the unorthodox headband, but given a day or so to get used to them and I'm able to wear them all day at the office. They provide decent sound isolation so I can keep my music to myself at the office.

great value for serious audiophile
my old stax electrostatics are dying and I can't afford new ones. these headphones are close at a fraction of the price.
