Comments about Audio-Technica AT-LP1240-USB:
Well made turntable, although a bit heavy at 26 pounds. I am not a DJ but I understand why a DJ would want a turntable that didn't shake when he/she worked it. One wish is that it came with my choice of cartridge pre-installed.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great for Pro DJs!!!

The motor is much stronger than the motor on the Technics 1200 which comes in place if you are heavy handed. The start/stop time is much quicker than the Technics 1200.The only thing I would change about the design is the pitch markings. I would have added numbers to easily match the tempo while mixing in low light conditions. I got around this by aiming the turntable strobe light half way between the pitch slider and the platter so you can see both of them. Sometimes I will accidentally hit the extra start/stop button while queing--which is probably me just being clumsy. I like the fact that it doesn't come with a needle and a cartridge because in most situations you will want to buy the one that fits your personal needs. The fitting is standard so I used the ones from my Technics 1200s.
I'm very happy with it !!

The Audio-Technica name is quality by itself. The OEM packaging is an indicator of how much care is placed around the turntable. The provided documentation is clear and complete. I had a few questions that the operator's manual covered.I use this unit practically everyday, either listening to clean vinyl or old school scratch and pops. The audio fidelity is simply supurb, and the controls are exactly where they need to be. Stylus calibration was easy and fast. The only issue I experienced was due to a bad ground point that created an annoying 60Hz hum. Once I established a good electrical reference (ground), the hum was no longer in my ear. Most people will appreciate the sturdy housing and flexible vibration absorbing feet along with the removable dust cover. Finally, I purchased the recommended stylus/cartridge - AT311EP, and it works great! I can hear the entire audio human spectrum.
Great product, highly reccomend

I use the turntable both for DJ and listening. It is a profesional equipment, well tuned, heavy torque motor, smoothly calibrated pitch control and the cover is included.I liked everyting about it but I would like it more if the turntable came with high grade needles like the Stantons 150.

Definite alternative to Technics!
from Kansas City, MO
About Me Audiophile, Pro Audio / DJ, Tech Savvy
The Audio-Technica ATLP1240 is a great turntable for both beginners and professionals alike. Its construction, looks, and performance could make this turntable the last you will ever buy. It is a SUPERB alternative to the Technics 1200/1210 series, with a motor that is 3X more powerful (4.5 g tracking force compared to Technics 1.7 g cm force). The tonearm height is adjustable with a very smooth adjusting collar. Tonearm is nice, metal with nice finish. There are other aspects which make it a better choice even compared to RELOOP RP 6000 MK6, American Audio HTD 4.5, and Stanton's ST-150 (all sister turntables). Price from BuyDig is most competitive. I definitely recommend this table, especially if you've gotten over Technics extreme cost for a unit whose price is market driven. This table is all about great performance, with everything better than Technics (despite lack of minimalist style), for a fraction of the cost of a $1100+ 1200 M5G.

Pros: This is the best turntable you can get for the price. It performs just as well as any other turntable in the market and is well built. The product is very well worth it if you are a DJ or want to have these for the road/club.Cons: Doesn't come with a stylus, so you will spend a bit extra in buying a cartridge + Stylus if you don't already have one. Also the shipping was very slow. I received my second ATLP 1240 about 4 weeks after I made my purchase online.
