I have only used it a few times. It has delivered as expected. I just doubled my focal length from 200mm to 400mm.

from Saudi Arabia
This extender is very good, easy to use, and durable. It is great to shoot a long distance objects and animals and birds. It's not great in situations where loosing 2 stops is so much.Check the compatibility with your lens(es).
Need to try it and decide
Buy it after you have bought everything else
I plan to use it for sports and wildlife photography. I was surprised how well it helped with macrophotography from a telephoto lens

Expectation not met
from Buffalo, NY
Our intention was to pair an EF 2.0X III telephoto extender with our Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM to create a second 400mm zoom (the other is a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM) so that both spouse and I have comparable capacities for shooting wildlife. The fit, finish, and overall build quality of the extender more than met our expectations, but the IQ did not. Wide open to fully stopped down, we got the same oatmeal-like IQ. Hair and feathers, the attractive bits of most of our subjects, require good resolving power, and the 70-200mm f/2.8 has that power, as does the 100-400mm. But, coupling the 70-200mm with the 2.0X III produces nowhere near the resolution of the 100-400mm. Perhaps our expectations were unrealistic, but we're going to lose some reach but retain far better IQ by staying with the 70-200 mm and the Canon EF 1.4X II.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Using w/ 100-400mm, sometimes even autofocuses (very slowly) in good light. Suggest using a 3.5 or better lens.

Auto focus does not work on EF 100-400mm
Auto focus does not work in combination with lens EF 100-400mmf/4.5-5.6L IS USM. Even though the paper from the manufacturer says it does. [...]
