Finding the Best Shops Online
To start their investigation to find the best places to shop in 2023, Statista compiled a list of over 9,500 online shops using a variety of databases, determining which websites were the most relevant to American consumers. Then, each online shop was evaluated by a group of professional testers who judged the shops objectively on 7 dimensions: trust and security, structure and usability, payment, purchase and delivery, service and communication, technical details, and likelihood of purchase (see the below image for a detailed breakdown).
For a well-rounded approach, an online survey was given to 6,000 online shoppers which asked them to share which of the 7 dimensions mattered most to them when they were browsing an online shop. The results of this survey determined the weight that each dimension would have on the final score of each shop. Each dimension was given a numerical sub-score which then allowed for Statista to calculate a rating for each online shop. Buydig.com was rated an overall score of 7.87, beating out popular competitors such as Newegg, HP, and Adorama.
