Compact, attractive and durable, the powerful Acme centrifiugal extractor gets high marks for the amount and quality of its juice as well as its relatively easy cleanup. In fact, users say its residue is so dry that juice yields are 20 percent to 35 percent greater than the slightly more convenient automatic pulp-ejection models.  Because juicing is fundamentally a messy business, ease of cleanup is a major selling point, especially among serious, regular juicers. Equipped with a rugged 1/4-horsepower motor and stainless steel housing and backed by a long warranty, the Acme delivers enough power to extract juice from a wide range of fruits and vegetables (a citrus attachment is required for orange juice). Its relatively high rpm can heat juices - problematic for those concerned about oxidation and/or storing fresh juices.

Acme makes several other centrifugal models, including the slightly less expensive (and plastic) 5001 and 7001. All accept the optional citrus attachment ($75 list), which transforms the Juicerator's 3,600 rpm into sufficient torque to squeeze citrus fruits. Acme also makes a machine specifically for citrus juicing - the Acme Citrus Juicer. Acme is made by Waring.

Hasn't Changed At All ... That's a good Thing

Pros: High yield, minimal aeration Cons: Periodic unbalanced centrifuge loads cause vibration, sometime severe Other thoughts: Bought the Acme Juicerator to replace one I had bought 25 years ago (vertical arm with lid clip cracked). Was surprised but not displeased to see it had changed in all that time virtually not at all (and who knows how long the design was in existence when I bought my original?). Was sort of expecting revisions or upgrades, but when you think about it, if it ain't broke, why fix it? Still produces high yield with minimal aeration, unlike a pulp ejection model I had tried which fell short in both areas. Yield improves 25-100% over PE models, if you can let the machine spin 5-20 minutes after last piece of food inserted. Best to trim skin to avoid unbalanced load vibration, but short of making that effort, cutting into small pieces and feeding slowly also helps.

Pros: Large Feeder Tube, Easy To Clean, Fast, Produces Lots of Juice Cons: Other thoughts: This juicer has lots of power, is compact, easy to use and clean. I have juiced apples, carrots, celery and other vegetables with great results. This machine is everything that it says it is. The only draw back is that you have to stop juicing to remove the pulp left behind. There isn't a seperate place for pulp to go, it stays inside the machine until it builds up and you have to stop to clean it out. Other than that I love the amount of juice it produces and how fast it is to set up, use, clean and put away.

Pros: Produces Lots of Juice Cons: Loud Other thoughts: I've wanted this particular juicer for years, and now I finally have one. I use it every morning to make my green juice, can really tell the difference in energy level, if I stick with my vegi-juices, verses your typical morning fast meals to go, or non at all, so much more alert and ready to face what the day may throw my way, people complain about the clean up, but I find it takes little time or effort to clean. It really pulls all of the juice from anything that you put into it, leaving a pulp which is barely moist, the pulp is put into my compost and also given to my chickens. I truly can not think of any reason why not to own this juicer, it's made to last for years, not cheesy like so many I've seen and owned.

Pros: Handles Tough Jobs, Dishwasher Safe, Powerful Motor, Durable, Easy To Use Cons: Other thoughts: I use this juicer almost every day. I had borrowed one from a friend for 3 months and fell in love with it. Finally had to buy one for myself! I like using the filters as it makes clean up very fast. If I do not use a filter and am too pressed for time to clean it immediately, I just drop it in a big bowl of water and then clean it later. Just don't let the basket dry out with the fibers still inside!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
