Bose’s active noise cancellation is one of the defining features of the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen). Quiet Mode is designed for maximum isolation during flights, commuting, work, and other noisy environments, while Aware Mode lets surrounding sound through when situational awareness matters. Bose also offers an Immersion Mode that combines noise cancellation with Bose Immersive Audio for a more expansive listening experience.

CustomTune Technology automatically analyzes how the listener’s ears affect the sound produced by the earbuds and then adjusts both audio reproduction and noise cancellation accordingly. The result is a more personalized listening profile without requiring manual calibration or complicated setup.

Bose Immersive Audio spatializes stereo content so that music and movies feel less confined inside the listener’s head. Rather than relying on special spatially encoded source material, Bose applies its processing directly to ordinary content, making the effect available across a broad range of music and video sources.

Call quality is backed by four microphones in each earbud, for eight microphones across the pair. Bose uses its microphone array and noise-rejecting processing to help isolate the user’s voice from background noise and wind. Either the left or right earbud can also be used independently for calls and audio playback.

Bluetooth connectivity uses Bluetooth 5.3 with a rated range of up to approximately 30 feet / 9 meters. The earbuds support Bluetooth multipoint for simultaneous connections to multiple compatible devices, along with SBC, AAC, and aptX Adaptive on supported hardware. Bose also supports Snapdragon Sound and an adaptive low-latency mode through aptX Adaptive on compatible devices.

Battery life reaches up to 6 hours with Immersive Audio turned off and approximately 4 hours with Immersive Audio enabled. Bose rates the fully charged case for an additional 18 hours of listening, while a 20-minute quick charge can provide up to approximately two hours of use.

The charging case supports both USB-C and wireless charging, giving users the option to recharge from a cable or simply place the case on a compatible wireless charging pad. A full earbud charge takes approximately two hours, while Bose specifies approximately three hours for the case.

Fit is highly customizable through the included Bose Fit Kit. Three eartip sizes and three stability-band sizes provide up to nine combinations, allowing the acoustic seal and physical stability to be adjusted independently. The eartips help block external sound while the stability bands follow the contours of the outer ear to keep the earbuds secure during movement.

An IPX4 rating protects the earbuds against sweat and splashing water, making them suitable for workouts, commuting, and light rain. The charging case itself is not water resistant, so it should be kept dry.
