The Bose Surround Speakers in Bose Black are compact rear-channel speakers designed to expand compatible Bose soundbars into a more immersive home theater system. Rather than producing all sound from the front of the room, these speakers add rear surround effects that help movies, sports, television, and games feel more enveloping.

The system includes two compact surround speakers and two wireless receivers. The receivers communicate wirelessly with a compatible Bose soundbar, eliminating the need to run long audio cables from the front of the room to the rear speakers. Each surround speaker does connect to its nearby wireless receiver with the included speaker cable, and each receiver requires AC power.

At only about 3.7 inches high, the speakers are designed to remain unobtrusive when positioned behind or beside the primary seating area. Their compact footprint makes them suitable for shelves, speaker stands, wall-mounted installations with compatible accessories, and other locations where large traditional surround speakers would be difficult to accommodate.

Because each wireless receiver is positioned near its corresponding rear speaker, the system reduces the amount of visible cabling across the room. This makes it much easier to add true rear speakers to a living room or home theater without routing speaker wire all the way back to the soundbar.

The speakers are designed to integrate directly with Bose's compatible home-theater ecosystem rather than function as conventional standalone Bluetooth speakers. They do not independently stream music from phones, tablets, or other Bluetooth sources.
