Pros: Good for distance Cons: Poor for direction Other thoughts: The distance to target part works well, I think it gives number of yards up to about 0.7 mile, and then switches to tenths of a mile. Remember its as the crow flies. I had great fun measuring distances in Disneyland (only 700yrds across!} Main problem I have found is the direction to target seems very inaccurate as it moves around a lot, sometimes as much as +/- 90 degrees. Same with compass. I see others have said that device must be held flat. I think I did hold it pretty flat, but will try it again.
