I have had this scanner for about 2 months. The photos scan quickly and quietly. Great quality. It is a little large to travel with but worth the effort. Would purchase again without hesitation.

9600 dpi? 4800? no.

I saw 9600 dpi, thought YES.. then read on to see max 4800 dpi for anything but film option and thought ok, 4800 is great for anything, so I bought it. Even with latest updates, both turned out to be false. 4800 is the max scan, via the film choice and max 600 dpi for everything else. I don't want a pdf, I do image editing. Their software has nothing designed for a fast easy dpi choice scan. I don't care if the image is 3x3" or the entire glass cover to scan, I want 9600 or at least the 4800 as the info page states I should be able to get. (For document types other than films, the maximum resolution is 4800 x 4800 dpi.) With terabytes of HD storage, size is not a problem. Canon FAILs me again.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Junk

Canon EOS camera software has downloaded smooth and effortlessly for me. This software on the other hand was very problematic. No clue as to what was downloaded. I fought with in constantly to no avail. Color slides that look great in my slide viewer then scanned only come to one way with the CanoScan 9000F, dark and noisy. A lot of work is required to get the scan from horrible to slightly horrible. Same results on both MAC OS and Windows 10. I'm now out the purchase price of this pice of junk. It's to big for a paper weight so I can see no alternative but to junk it. I'm now very reluctant to continue my patronage of Canon. Hugely disappointed.

I bought this scanner this summer and originally wasn't using it much. We'd just received about 6 boxes full of old slides and negatives and I had the best intentions but not clear timeline. Fast forward to the last week and now we are moving and I have no intention of taking those boxes with me. Now I'm powering through and I'm so impressed with this scanner. The picture quality is plenty good enough for what we want (to access and share all these long forgotten pictures) and the scanner itself is very intuitive. I love that the plastic attachments make each slide scan in as an individual picture in the desired orientation. So far I'm happy scanning slides, film, and printed pictures.

I bought this scanner to digitize photo albums and slides and negatives from over 40 years. The scanner is big enough in surface area to scan multiple photos at once if they are smaller in size, and can capture larger sizes easily. I scan 35mm plus 120mm film and even slides. I scan documents and make them PDFs, scan to email and scan to storage drives. I work with Mac so I can't speak to the Windows issue. But this scanner is perfect and does everything as advertised. I highly recommend.

Waste of time and money

Not too sure why canon made this. I picked one up to scan film with and the quality is terrible, down right awful. Scans are generally pretty ugly and need a fair amount of work to make them look slightly less terrible but terrible nonetheless. Scanning software says the image will be one size but after copying the image into the Lightroom to work with it the file size is about a quarter of what scan gear says it will be. Very disappointed in this product and if you're thinking of getting one, don't!!

Since this product DOES work with Windows 10, I'm going to ignore every complaint about how it does not... What gets overlooked is that there is no native support for TWAIN-64 in Windows: blame Microsoft for that, not the scanner manufacturers. Software products like Vuescan bypass that problem and make this scanner available regardless whatever version of Windows is being used. The CanoScan software is available as a WIA scanner option in any application which allows for the user to choose the input source; again, get over it. One of the best indicators of the results this scanner can achieve, comes from scanning 16mm film frames: I can get 5" x 7" prints out of a film size which is a bit smaller than 110 negative. This scanner is not for the casual user, by any means. A CanoScan 220 is a much safer choice for the under-initiated. If you want to work for top results and need affordable power, this scanner IS the best choice, and does not cost an arm and a leg in the process.

I use this scanner to scan slides, film negatives and photos. It does a great job running on Windows 10. A bit slower than I'd like but all scanners I've used have that issue.

I bought this scanner in June 2014 to replace an old Microtek scanner. Haven't had any problems with this product. I noticed some reviews complaining about incompatibility with Windows 10. I have not had this problem since I upgraded from Win 8 to 10 early in 2015.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
