Complementing the optical design is an Ultrasonic Dual Linear motor, which offers fast and quiet autofocus performance. Additionally, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to pleasing bokeh quality.

This autofocusing 85mm was designed with creativity in mind. The bright F1.4 aperture provides excellent performance even when shooting indoors or in darker conditions and precise selective focus control. Attractive bokeh is created through precision lens polishing and a nine blade iris for natural, circular, out-of-focus highlights at all apertures.

Advanced Lens Technologies
A variety of advanced lens technologies, including a Hybrid Aspherical element, allow for a more compact (< 3 inches long) and lightweight (17oz) design that also minimizes aberrations, controls distortion, and provides excellent resolution. Ultra Multi-Coating is applied to all optical surfaces to suppress flare and ghosting while increasing contrast and color accuracy. Autofocusing is fast, quiet and accomplished by two Linear Ultrasonic Motors (LSMs) that only have to adjust a single inner lens group to achieve precise focus.
