The Nest Doorbell can tell the difference between people, packages, animals, and vehicles. It can even recognize familiar faces and tell you who’s there.

Activity Zones let you define specific areas and get notified when something happens there. So you only get alerted about things that are important to you.
Go back in time.
If you miss a notification or other event, you can go back and see a recording of what happened with 3 hours of free event video history. If you want more video history, you can add a Nest Aware Plus subscription for up to 60 days of event video history.
Know when a package arrives.
With special alerts for deliveries, the Nest Doorbell will let you know when it sees that a package has arrived.
Talk to who’s there, from anywhere.
Talk and listen to visitors through the built-in speaker and microphone. Tell someone you’ll be right there, or let a delivery person know where to leave the package.
Leave visitors a message with just a tap.
Quickly respond to someone at your door by choosing from pre-recorded messages, like “Just a sec, we’ll be right there,” or “You can just leave it. Thanks!”
Wi-Fi problems? Not a problem.
If your Wi-Fi goes down or there’s a power outage, the Nest Doorbell will automatically record important events for up to one hour in its local memory. When things are up and running again, you’ll be able to see exactly what happened.
Install it yourself.
Wire-free means installation is painless. You can put it at the vantage point that works best for your door.
Connect to your existing doorbell wires and chime.
How you hear your doorbell chime will depend on how you install the Nest Doorbell.
Battery installation
If you choose wire-free installation using battery power, you’ll get an alert on your phone, and on your Google Assistant-enabled speakers or displays when someone rings the doorbell. With wire-free installation, your existing chime will not ring.
Wired installation
You can connect the Nest Doorbell to your existing doorbell wires. If you choose wired installation, you’ll also hear your existing chime when someone rings the doorbell.
Everything works together.
The Nest Doorbell works with other Nest products. Hear announcements on Nest Mini when someone is at the door. And Nest Hub will show you who’s there when someone rings the bell.

You can upgrade to 30 days of event video history with a Nest Aware subscription, or 60 days of event video history with Nest Aware Plus. However, whether you choose battery or wired installation, the Nest Doorbell (battery) cannot continuously record 24/7 video history. Battery installation - If you choose battery installation for your Nest Doorbell (battery), you can get a notification on your phone and on your Google Assistant–enabled speakers and displays when someone presses the button. Your existing wired doorbell chime will not ring.
Wired Installation - If you choose the optional wired installation for your Nest Doorbell (battery) by connecting it to your existing doorbell wires (8 to 24VAC, 10 VA, 50/60Hz transformer), your wired doorbell chime can ring when someone presses the button.
