Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi 2 with Tone Wicker Fuzz Pedal
Product Description:
The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi 2 with Tone Wicker is a fuzz/distortion/sustainer guitar pedal that combines the long-lost Dual Op-Amp Big Muff circuit from the 1970s with EHX's beloved Tone Wicker tone-shaping features — delivering a unique, mids-forward fuzz voice with expanded tonal versatility in one compact package.
The story behind the Big Muff Pi 2 is one of rediscovery. While researching EHX's history for the book "Made on Earth for Rising Stars," JHS Pedals founder Josh Scott and artist Daniel Danger uncovered a hand-drawn schematic in the personal files of Bob Myer — the original designer of the Big Muff Pi. Labeled "Big Muff Using (2 Dual Op Amps)," this circuit was an alternate evolution of the Big Muff that was passed over in the late 1970s in favor of what became the well-known Op-Amp Big Muff. Josh decoded and resurrected Bob's original circuit in collaboration with Electro-Harmonix, bringing this forgotten piece of fuzz history to life for the first time.
The Big Muff Pi 2 circuit delivers singing sustain and massive amounts of gain while occupying its own distinct voice — a crispy top end, booming lows, slightly less refined clipping, and a mids-forward bark that sets it apart from the classic Big Muff Pi. Slightly more dynamic, slightly more fuzzy, and with a uniquely raw, aggressive character, the BMP2 fills out the Big Muff flavor palate in a way no other Muff variant does.
The Tone Wicker features expand its capabilities even further. The TONE bypass switch removes the TONE knob and its entire circuit from the signal path, unleashing an unfiltered, full-range fuzz with devastating broadband slam. The WICKER switch adds two levels of extended high-end clarity at any TONE setting, opening up high-frequency filters for a raspier, more defined sustain with serious top-end bite. Combined with the standard VOL, TONE, and SUSTAIN controls, these switches give players an extraordinary range of fuzz textures — from classic woolly Big Muff warmth to searing, aggressive modern fuzz. The soft footswitch offers both latching (standard on/off) and momentary (press-and-hold for fuzz bursts) action. Ships with a 9V battery included; optional 9VDC power adapter available separately.
