Complete fail

Printer doesn't work at all. Fiddled with the testing of nozzles etc. Prints blank pages or parts of pages. Shakes so violently left to ring when printing that I don't have a table strong enough to hold it still.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Lasts about 20-30 pages before Epson makes you buy more ink. It always had trouble feeding pages since day 1. Complete garbage. It says something if the longest length of ownership listed with this review is "6 months or more". Complete and utter garbage, don't waste your hard earned dollars.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

We have had this printer for less than 9 months. It has been the most problematic printer we have ever owned. The paper doesn't feed without jamming. The screen and instructions are difficult to understand when trying to take care of the jams. Always had to open the back door 2-3 times to advance to the next step. One night it took us 45 minutes to copy 3 pages. I work in an office and use printers all the time so I know how to use them. And this one has not been worth our money. We are replacing it this weekend with a different brand.

The XP-640 works the same as my other Epson printer. Set up was easy and the prints are quality. The only draw back is that I cannot use leftover Epson ink cartridges even though they fit, they don't work. Ink is expensive and it would be a nice thing for Epson to allow consumers to use up product they have. I would have given a 5 if I could have used the ink.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I have had this printer long enough it came time to buy more Ink. I bought all of them with X or XP which meant that the ink was fuller than the none xp ink. it came to $110.00 bucks and I have been printing for about 6 months now and I check the ink levels all the time and after 6 months the ink has not gone down very much at all and I print at least 5 to 10 pictures a day for family and friends because of the software I have and the other ink would have ran out by now. I also like that the printer knows when to clean the heads and a lot more by itself. I'll just be sitting at my computer and all of the sudden the printer takes off by itself doing its own think for me. Love this Epson XP-640. Mike

I have had this printer for about a month and it has worked well. My biggest complaint is the time it takes to print. Each time you enter a print request it brings up a box telling you what size paper you are using. Just takes time. But wonce it starts it is quick.
